I've just never got this betting/gambling way of playing golf. If it takes a special game to make it interesting.....maybe you should hit the casino's?

It's this simple to me.....how well can I play/score? Keep it simple.

We play Snake. Set an amount per hole, usually 50p. Then all you have to do is not 3 putt on a hole. If you do you have the snake and owe the others 50p each for that hole. Next person to 3 putt owes £1 each etc. The person who has the snake walking off 18th pays put to other two what ever total got to. If you have big greens makes playing a totally different experience and if you know can’t get close to hole, you spend thinking and leaving it short and chipping on to avoid the dreaded 3 putt.

I was thinking this. When we play in a three, we do our Stableford points and see who won at the end. Simple as that!

Im with you both - betting on my own golf wouldnt end well either! :ROFLMAO:

Its fun to play alternate games if you all play a lot, but id never do it for money. Im also the type that makes £1 bets on the very rare occasion I do bet on something (Grand National, Cheltenham). I work hard for my money, not throwing it away!

I dont think anyone was chatting about betting.

Just different games rather than just simply counting up the stableford scores or strokes at the end to see who wins.

With these games it's not always the best player on the day that wins.

Recently introduced to ‘The Chair’ as a three ball format. The version that seems almost guaranteed to keep things tight and all involved is where you only score a point when you win a hole outright when in the chair after winning a hole outright to be in the chair - but you lose the chair if you do not win a hole outright.

This means that you have to keep winning holes to stay in the chair - and hence to win points - halving a hole when in the chair with one or both others isn’t good enough to stay in the chair. As a result it’s really tough to win points.
