Right its no surprise to anyone either here or across the pond that we are not exactly pasting on the factor 50 and walking around in our jocks till the weee ours of the morning because of heat stroke or humidity....

Well the humidity is there but so are the water particles falling from the sky.....

So i guess like me most are either carrying there gear in the bag waiting to sling it on part way round the 18 with their fingers crossed in the hope they make it round without having to put it on...Or as i mostly do put on my mountaing bike leggings under my gore tex pants and then realize part they way round that mr rain decided to pull a fast one and instaid stay in the clouds but just for good measure we'll leave the grey sky there and add roughly 23-25 degrees of heat for good measure....You can see where this is going...

Anyway to my point....How do you wash your wets?
From wearing mine i seem to be washing them every week which i know may not be the best thing to do but i dont like arriving up to the first tee with a pair of wet pants that look like a pair of waders from distance from the mud that has worked its way half way up the legs....
My sunnice wet pants now are getting pretty faded from the washing even though they are nearly 2 years old.

Just say they are a new shade of grey in the Sunice range. You really can't do much about waterproofs loosing there colour in this country, as you wear your waterproofs as much as normal trousers.

Kid do you have to re-waterproof your gear due to the washing or does it stay waterproof? If you have to treat it may I ask what you use?

Not my Sunnice gear anyway Mark.....Its still water tight.....
One thing i did read up about when i got it was actually washing it....
Per instruction its supposed to be washed at 40 degrees or lower...Never higher....
Also they recommend that you tumble dry on a low heat to reactivate the particles in the gore tex which in turn makes them impermeable again.....

I find machine washing on 40 with NO soap powder is fine all the muck comes off no problem. Plus they keep there colour better. Any soap left in after washing will damage the waterproof ability of them.

Due to excessive wear in this weather the galvin jacket had started to hold water more than it run off so as instructions washed it and tumbled dry. It's right as rain again, pun intended. The old ski trousers I wore in the winter were washed every couple of weeks depending on how filthy they got. Not had to wear the gg trousers for combat yet but this weekend looks like the one!

for washing make sure the soap tray is clean as residue can affect the waterproofing. If you need to re-proof I used nikwax to wash and then again to re proof. I was dry as a bone at woodhall when used after proofing so that speaks volumes :)
