I played with a mate yesterday on what turned out to be an ok day (for once). It was the first time in a month that I'd picked up a club.Considering the recent weather the fairways and rough were in pretty good condition, with only patches holding some standing water. A few of the greens however were looking a bit battered - if I'm 100% honest if it was my home course I'd have preferred them to close the course, I can only imagine the damage being done to them. There were 3 or 4 temp greens also.Overall I think its a nice course, I particularly liked the "Woburn-esque" downhill par 3 and I also liked the need for different clubs when teeing off rather than automatically reaching for the driver. The main thing that has made me type up this though was our dealings with 3 groups of members during the round.Without exception they were absolutely first class in etiquette, manners and friendliness. We were a 2 ball that did 18 holes in 3 hours 15 mins. On every occasion that we got anywhere near catching the group infront they immediately called over that they would wait so we could play through, I've never experienced this anywhere else and it was so refreshing. One of them even found my putter cover and found me in the bar after to give it back.Top notch.

how did you score Adam? and was it Ray who played with you.?
must say if i lived nearer to westerham i would join it ,its a cracking little track.

On the whole not too bad, had 2 bad holes (quadruple and a triple!) and finished with a 92. I was playing with Colin Vickerys son in law - Andy Crouch, who finished with a slightly dubious 87. Less said about that the better!

yeh Andy is becoming a bit of a bandit ,Ray says he has been playing well for a while now ,but then he says you are hitting it pretty good too.
we will have to have a game when my knee gets better ,

Good to hear your comments about the members, makes a nice change to hear something positive.

I played Westerham last summer and really enjoyed it, probably because I came within one stroke of breaking 80 for the first time, as you say it's good to have option of not hitting the driver on some of the tees,I made the mistake of taking driver on the par four tenth ( the one with the elevated tee I think) hitting it left into the trees and walking of with a 7.

The fairways on the first were in a terrible condition, good to hear that's fixed, and I would go back for a game next time I'm down.

Glad you both liked it. I'll pass your comments on to the management.
Also, pleased that the members were nice and friendly. As an ex-captain, it's always good to hear!
