@Pjwgov, it's a lovely course, but this time of year, it's average at best, I'm afraid. It'll be pretty wet underfoot if we have much rain this week, and a trolley ban might be put on again, so check before you go.
Wettest parts of the course will be the walks down 7 and 15 and up the right of 16, so be careful.

There isn't a flat hole on the course, which makes it interesting and challenging, with some short and long par threes, and some good par 4s. Used to be heavily tree-lined, but we're two years into a woodland management programme that has thinned out a lot and made the course drier and more playable without detracting from the feeling of an established course.

Tips would be:
All flags have a smaller one positioned at bottom of flagstick for front of green, middle for middle and top for back of green.
1st - favour right of fairway and there's a slope on the left of the green.
2nd - green slopes from back to front and if the pin is middle, everything will feed into it off the left.
3rd - favour left side for your second to leave an easier approach to the two tiered green. Two bunkers on behind the other at the right side of the green. You can see one, but the second is slightly right and behind the visible one.
4th - two tier green and do not be on the top level if the flags at the bottom. Short is better than long.
5th - dogleg left par 5 but straight tee shot is fine. Large bunker front right of green which you likely won't see for your second or possibly third shot. If the pin look way right, don't go for it! Left of green and hope you can two-putt!
6th - new tee box makes the tee shot easier, but the ball will move from right to left when it lands, so don't over-draw the ball. Green slopes pretty badly downhill at the very front so if pin at front, maybe land it 5 yards short if you don't hit drop and stop shots.
7th - dogleg left, short par 4, but no real point going for it. Play a straight shot down to the bunkers and it's an easy wedge in. The ground before the green and after bunkers is very soft, so don't try a bump and run! Fastest green on the course, so give it 5% less than others.
8th - green slopes massively from back to front. Be below the pin!
9th - there's a ridge back middle of green, so don't be wrong side of it.
10th - uphill par 5. Stay up the right hand side, but the ground does fall away too far right and there's a hollow beyond left of the large tree 140yards right of the green.
11th - lovely par 3 which plays a club shorter than yardage, and the ball will generally fall down left from the shelf top right.
12th - hardest green on the course. Don't give anyone a putt! Hogs-back on midde right side of green.
13th - downhill par 3. Plays the same club as 11th in winter. Favour the right side wherever the flag is cos holding it with a draw is really tricky.
14th - severe false front on green makes club selection tricky. Ball won't spin much on the green either (unless you hit the false front).
15th - approach shot will be one club shorter than yardage, if not two. Slope front left will feed ball to right.
16th - par 5 which isn't too long, and if you're a big hitter you may get there in two even in winter. Severe slope all around the left of the green which will push the ball off big-time.
17th - runs alongside the 6th and plays similar. The ball will want to go left on you, but it's a huge downhill slope to the left of he approach and green so be careful. Green slopes from back to front, but also right to left.
18th - although approach is downhill, its over cold water this time of year, so maybe not one club less.

Enjoy!
