West Ham

Great result on a whole lot of levels...

And, sadly every team has a handful of idiots amongst its followers...

Shame the local village idiots had to taint what was a decent send off and a classic game to say goodbye to. Was disappointed with Gold's comments in the aftermath about how United should have got there earlier and that he had seen coverage and there was no damage. Should have been less defensive and got more information before making such hasty comments. Great game to watch played in a competitive way and refereed well

Agreed that there were a few hamptons that tarnished the night but it could all have been avoided if they'd arrived two hours earlier. Terrible planning especially when they have already been tardy in London a few weeks earlier.

Thought the ref was excellent as was Cresswell, Kouyate, Noble and Smalling. Rooney is also showing potential as a sweeper !!!

The only sweeper Rooney should be is on the roads.Thought the game was classic English premier league....top notch game and a great result. Now, please Man City....get at least a draw and don't let utd into the Champions league.

Comments like this only suggest that the behaviour was in someway justified because they were late.
I'm sure you dont mean it but thats how I feel.

It could have been avoided if the yobs had avoided acting like yobs. End of. NO excuse for behaviour like that. None

What part of agreeing that some idiots tarnished the night suggests justifications for their action ? What i was suggesting was that it could have been avoided. No excuses at all and the co-chairman hasn't helped to be fair but logistically there is no excuse either. Being late is downright rude. There's a hotel at the ground FFS.

I agree but the observation made related to how deep he was playing. Can't see City pulling the chute now. Everyone's happy !!!!

Apparently they were only 100 yards behind the West Ham coach, but that was allowed straight through by the "fans".

They would have been on time though bar the actions of the fans outside

They were saying on the radio that they have always travelled down by coach to London for midweek games and even left a little early expecting a big crowd in the area

LP - Do they not get the train to London on the day and then pick up the coach from there? There are always pictures of Man Utd at Crewe station. Makes more sense than coaching it the whole way. Frankly, this is no fault of Man Utd. They simply followed a routine they have been doing for years for games in London. It was shameful night for West Ham. Maybe the police got caught out by the fans blocking the coach but to blame Utd is nonsense (this point is general, not pointed at you by the way).

Gold proved what a muppet he is. His comments were stupid and embarrassing.

I think they have certainly done train for matches at Wemberlee - can remember seeing a build up with Virgin putting a train on for them etc

But as you say regardless of their travel plans there should be zero blame on Man Utd - fully on West Ham shoulders but expect the FA to hand out token fine

I think there is a lot of blame to go round. Firstly, the police should have known better. They should have seen that crowds were massing, getting drunk/rowdy and acted quicker to either move them back a safe distance or find a better route for the bus. United should have got there earlier. Better planning between United, West Ham and the Police could have avoided this. Biggest issue though was the yobs in question. remove them - remove the issue!

No excuse no matter what time or route the bus takes.

Totally agree but me and you are law abiding citizens with a brain. Unfortunately though there's a few clowns out there that aren't. Logistically it could have been avoided is all I'm saying. Better planning and policing . Of course you can't blame Man U for having their coach attacked that's obvious !!

A yo yo football club that's won next to nothing. I had to turn the radio off such was the over the top sentimental nonsense.

A lot of teams that play in London at the weekends stay at the Marriott in Waltham Abbey the night before and then drive to the ground at a suitable time, even some PL footballers that have recently signed for clubs in the North & East of London stay there whilst they look for a new home. I have friends nearby and regular pop in there for a drink with them and see teams & players wandering around.

I can see why for an evening fixture you'd travel on the day, although due to the occasion I think it was ill thought out, however, I think many lessons could have been learn't from last night's scenes and those caught on camera throwing missiles etc will be rightly banned and even possibly prosecuted.
