That's a pretty good attitude.

Best way to play it for reasonable money is via your own clubs Charity Auction! Unless you can get a freebee Corporate!

There's a bunkers on the 2nd that I'm not keen on! But the Front right is a great intro! Right of 8 is a killer and you don't want to know about the one long and left on 16! The ones right/long on 18 can be deadly too!

Relatively easy course if you plot your way around properly. I shot 37 points first time around - no blobs. But a long slog! Not all holes are 'great' but Par 3s are really good and plenty of other very good holes. No poor ones! 7 is a bit Marmitey though. Greens are unique and take a bit of getting used to.

I've played it a few times, first time was pre-changes and a warm summers day, I was surprised at how short the course felt, nothing like I had seen on tv, we were off the medal tees so not championship and I'm an average hitter but I did wonder what all the hype was about.

Played again last March and it was soft underfoot and thats without all the rain we've had this year!

at OP, not a simple answer sorry, but it would be a No for me (unless thats a 4ball price?)

A links course in March is the only way to go imo

As it's one of the first courses any kid growing up on this island gets to see on the telly, I'd love to play it but there's no way I'd shell out that sort of cash for it in March, at least not till my cheque from the Lottery arrives!

I agree with PNWokingham, Drive4Show and Richart.

No way would I pay this. I have played Wentworth West and it is not even in my inland top ten course. Hugely overrated and the worst value for money in UK golf.

That said, Woburn members will probably quite like it.

Why would that be ?

Value for money judgement is of course subjective. However, as a well known golf travel company is offering 3 nights and 2 rounds at La Manga for around the price of 18 holes at Wentworth I know where my 200 smackers would go.
I know that you have to add travel and spends so that the comparison isn't really all that fair but I still think it shows that the Wentworth green fee is bonkers!

La Manga courses are awful though.

Depends on how minted you are I think. If you are so minted that you will not miss the best part of 200 notes to play a course in the early days of Spring in this country then go for it, no point being the richest man in the graveyard.

But if 200 notes means something then I'd say no, too much potential for the weather to ruin it as in my experience a cold windy rainy day does not half suck a lot of the fun out of playing golf. I can think of only a handful of courses that I would pay that kind of money and take the risk on, and Wentworth ain't one of them.

My point was "value for money". If La Manga doesn't float your boat, they are doing 3 nights and 3 rounds at Penina or maybe that is rubbish as well?

The costs does increase though when travel is added

Played at Wentworth some years ago in a society day, but we played the East Course. I remember the starter saying that this course was much more suited to the handicap golfer and that the West course could be a "long trek".
Having said that if you have the cash and you want to tick it off your list, then go for it.

Looks like im going to pay to play it. One of the courses not played yet but want too

Seriously Phil if you have played all the other courses you want to then fair enough, go for it. But if there are still top courses you haven't played yet, play them first.

No. Maybe Augusta but that ain't going to happen. Like others have said, you can play on a few other top courses for a lot less.

This opportunity has presented itself and the offer is there.

History or not, iconic course or not, £195 to play Wentworth West in March reflects just what a rip off the UK has become as a country. And £360 to play it in the summer? You're having a laugh!

My mates moan at having to pay 95 Euros (member rates, granted) to play Monte Rei in the Algarve. Whenever they whine, I just remind them how much it would be to play a course of that quality in the UK, and strangely they shut up.

I couldn't possibly enjoy a round of golf having paid that much - I'd be terrified of hitting a poor shot.
