Weird

So apart from the fact that you know more than I, give me 6 good reasons why I should listen to you

;)

<font color="pink"> Ok I'll admit defeat :D

I dont know about 6 reasons
I might be able to give you 8 out of 10 ;) :p

Hi Homer, no offence meant. Just don't understand why you would want to change your stroke when you have an 80% success rate from 8 feet. Whilst this is on a putting mat which is probably not offering major deviation that's still a high %. You've also said that your putts per round is dropping, if your GIR is also improving that's surely really positive.

Whilst I recognise the fact that I am starting on my golfing journey one thing I've learnt is that I currently take too many things with me onto the course and this is causing me a lot of problems. You're currently remodelling your swing so all I'm suggesting is why not wait till that beds down before looking at other changes.

Obviously it's your call, just my twopenneth.

Homer,

Having read the op and responses i would say if you are holing 80 percent of 8 footers and still playing off 11 then you might want to be thinking a lot more about other parts of your game as that putting average is ridiculously good IMO.

Perhaps looking at your course management and approach on the course would be better than all these putting and swing changes.

Hope that makes sense.

If I try and emphasise it on the inside on the longer putts all I do is collect the back pin on the other side

Clearly I have an issue on the takeaway but its not causing me too much of a problem through impact and following through and I seem to bring the putter through consistantly. Is it worth pursuing a much straighter takeaway or is it something that can be lived with. Will it catch up with me back on the course

From a position of not having seen your putting stroke (Disclaimer: and also not being a putting expert) it might be that your shoulders are not square. As you put your right hand down to grip the club your left shoulder will open, then the longer your stroke gets then the further offline your putter will appear to be.

I'm sure I heard Padraig say that this is part of the reason why he started putting cack-handed (along with stopping his wrists breaking down).

I think the success tally is more down to the level carpet. I'm sure once I get back onto a proper green and a putt with a hint of borrow that figure will come back down. Good shout on the shoulders. I did have a problem pre-putting lesson of having the shoulders closed. We worked on trying to get them feeling much more open so I'm wondering if they've just crept a bit too far. It may also explain why the vast majority of putts are missing left.

Just back from visiting HID's grandad in hospital (he's on his way sadly) so not in the mood or had time to film the stroke. I'll get something sorted tomorrow (and my grip) and the hordes can descend!
