Wedge on the green

I've done it once, chipped it to 2 inches, it was a great shot and no divot in sight, beautiful

Chipped on a green a few times but only done minor damage which I repaired. I have however used my 3 wood to putt on a few occasions as a result of my putter going for a swim.......

You can only do it on the hole you are playing. If you hit the ball onto an adjacent green you have to take a free drop at the nearest point of relief, it's a 2 shot penalty otherwise.

I assume that on a double green such as mentioned at st Andrews it's ok to chip from the green on both holes?
