I recently updated my irons, and my new set stopped at PW, which is 46°. I replaced my old 56° TP9 sand wedge with a TaylorMade 58°, as I had a 52° gap wedge, giving me 6° between each wedge. Should I consider replacing the 52° gap wedge with 50° and 54° wedges, to reduce the gaps between each wedge? What are people's thoughts on 3 wedges vs 4?

Ta,

Michael

been discussed many times on here, those who are decent with 3/4 shots see no need for smaller gaps, those of us who arent as good prefer more wedges and smaller gaps.

for me I cant see why you would ever want bigger gaps between your wedges than you have been between your irons so I have 4 degree gaps and carry 48(PW)/52/56/60 and they cover from 135 downwards for me

Similar to fundy for me, my PW is 45 then 3 more wedges of 48/52/58. This covers me for 130-80 yards.

I'm a fan of a full shot, although have learnt to hit an 80% to fill the distances.

Your PW is for lower shots, 52 for medium and 58 for high. Job done.
If you did change you would have

Driver: TaylorMade R15 9.5º
3W: Callaway Big Bertha Diablo 16º Draw
5W: Callaway Hawkeye VFT
3H: Callaway Big Bertha Diablo
4-PW: TaylorMade SpeedBlade HL
Wedges:50,54,58
Putter: Odyssey Works Big T #5
