what Bob Says.

i recently switched to Gi irons and have a bigger gap now from my blades, 45 PW, 52/10 and 58/14 use the PW for full shots and the odd B&R, 52 for chips and full shots 110 down to 90 plus the odd long bunker shot. 58 is for Bunkers, high chips over bunkers and full shots 70/90. only carry 13 clubs at the moment too.

I have 4 wedges. PW at 45, GW from my set at 49, and Vokey 54 and 58.
I generally have them all in the bag for the courses I normally play, but if playing a longer course i will take out the GW and add a hybrid or 3 iron

It's only my opinion.
Carry as many wedges as you want but when you can't reach a par 3 with your longest iron/hybrid, good luck easing back on a 3 wood.;)
Most par 3s now are so long you can’t hit irons anyway so you need those lofted wedges for your second shot.;)

My iron set has a PW at 43*, and another wedge at 48*. I then carry 52*, 56* and 60* Vokeys. My gapping is nice and regular at short end of the bag, and the 56* and 60* are never hit flat out anyway. I disregard what is stamped on the bottom of the club, so even though I technically carry 5 wedges, that's not how I see my bag. I don't really have gaps at the top end of my bag either, but if I could find a club that goes 40 yards further than my driver, I'd drop the 60* in a heartbeat:p

50° sounds like a good difference between PW and 56, I’m sure a 52 would also do the trick.

I’m also after a 50° but I want a SM7 to match my other wedges but I also want one with a Tensei CK series graphite shaft on. Can’t find them anywhere

I've got a 46 PW, a 50, 54 and 58.

However, I'm about to go PW, 52 and 58 and drop the 50&54 for another hybrid or long iron as the gap between my fairway woods and 4 iron is too big so 190-200 yards is a horrible distance for me and that's a shot I generally need at least three times per round at my home course.

Last year, as I carry, I decided to take a club out of each end of bag, and so only now carry 12 clubs.

Wedge set up is similar to Bobmacs recommendation - 44 deg PW, 49 deg GW and 60 deg LW.
I used to carry 56 deg SW but rarely used it - my 60 deg wedge is a Taylormade Big Foot with 15 deg bounce, which I use for all greenside bunkers and chips from fluffy lies around greens.
In winter if we have hard compact sand I use the 49 deg GW which has a low bounce - also use this for 80% of pitch shots, varying distance by gripping down/swing length.
This wedge set up works for me and I have not missed the 56 deg wedge.

I have PW, 50, 55, 56. ?

56 sandwedge I use for chipping to our raised greens, and for short greenside bunkers. It also has old style grooves. 55 wedge came with my set of irons, new style grooves, and is perfect for longer greenside bunker shots that need to run out.

I am rubbish at chipping, but confident from bunkers. Helps that our bunkers have lovely uniform sand from Cornwall, and not builders sand from local yard. ?

Need to sort out the gap from the pw. Maybe 48 instead of the 52.

I need to keep my 56 and 60 in the bag. Been using them for years and we are attached at the hip.

I have a the PW from my iron set (43) and 46, 50, 54 & 58 Cleveland wedges. The 54 & 58 are primarily used for bunkers and flop shots. i did originally have a GW (48) from my iron set in the bag, but replaced it with the 46 Cleveland as the gapping was better and the irons are quite chunky and not ideal for chipping.

What do you hit from the rough or first cut to hit 180 or above a 5 iron?

I can see a big gap.
