hi, apologies as I know this would have been asked to death, but over the winter in going to replace my wedges (going for 52,56,60) and cant decide whether to get some £150 kirklands from costco, or look for a good used set of something a bit higher end such as Mizuno T20/22's.

Titleists would be too pricey unless I went for somthing much older such as sm4/5

is it a false economy buying new budgets given that I'm a high handicapper (although improving) and would you look for a £50-60 per wedge used premium

thanks, Kev

Take a look at Benross wedges. A good price and certainly work well.

Certainly not false economy buying the Kirkland wedges. I’ve got all 3 in my since returning to playing this year.

They swing well, feel great, spin great and are really good quality. I’ve had alsorts of wedges over the years Vokeys, Callaway, TM, Cleveland. But I tell you right now I wouldn’t swap the Kirklands in unbelievable value for money and quality.

Seeing that you don't play a urethane ball, I wouldn't overthink this regarding spin and just go for the affordable wedges. They'll work more than fine for your needs. One thing that you might consider though, is that a set of cavity back wedges will probably be better for your game than traditional blade style wedges. But a quick online look shows me that Cleveland are really the only company that seems to make those right now.

Where have you got this information from? Completely made up!

Agreed on Cleveland, I'm really liking their CBX range. Callaway do CB wedges as well though.

Play with a 4 capper who is a wizard with his Kirkland wedges
My HI is 4.1 and tomorrow my wedges will be 2008 Ping i W 52° and a Cleveland Classics 691 58°. The "691" indicates 1991, but could be a few years later.

I will also have a Ping i10 PW of 46°in the bag, but that is not really a wedge - it is a 10-iron.

Regarding bargains, I've read good reviews on the Wilson Harmonized wedges, that sometimes pop up as a set of three for a fair price on Amazon for example (not a fan of Amazon nor of their golf offerings but hey, you know)
