I don't think its going to be too bad. Wind and showers but not a write off. Off to Leatherhead for testing tomorrow and then the toffs bugger off and racing finishes and we get he full course back on Sunday so going out to play regardless

Village Youth Club fundraiser in the form of a duck race tonight.
Trouble is there is barely enough water in the burn to move the ducks.
Beautiful mild midsummer night here with the kids playing a 20 a side football match involving a five foot diameter ball.

10am today and it's chucking it down with no let up in sight- pretty accurate forecast unfortunately

it was really nice here until about 11am, the it PIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSed it down. driving back from Nairn i had my windscreen wipers on full blast and still could not see where i was going.

It seems to me that the forecasters have been covering themselves since the Michael Fish "hurricane" debacle in '87.

"Cloudy with some sunny spells, 50% chance of some rain". Can't get it wrong, can they?

Apparently there are some golf clubs taking the forecasters to task about their negative forecasting resulting in reduced business. e.g. people are less likely (in their view) to play if the forecast is negative i.e. 50% chance of rain rather than a positive 50% chance of dry weather. Semantics, but maybe a valid view.

Then again forecasters could take the public to task for being so stupid not to realise a 50% chance of rain means there's a 50% chance of it not happening.

I'd suggest golf clubs start looking a bit more at themselves regards their policies on pricing, dress codes, message they give out regarding inclusivity blah blah blah as I always rant on about, rather than blaming the semantics of weather forecasters.
