Ok, so you're all galvin'd up, at huge expense. Hat, suit, rain gloves, umbrella, you name it, you've got it.

But.....

You're playing partners are wimps. Some have the kit, others haven't bothered. It makes no odds, they all want to walk in. Even the ones who are galvin'd to the max. They all want to quit.

You could save the money, get wet, walk in. It's what every one else does!

Heavy rain and the summer do not mix well. Waterproofed up today in the rain it became unbearably hot and clammy after just a few holes so off came the jacket and you got wet anyway. Rain on its own is no excuse to walk in though.

Teed off in driving rain at 10am, only had my short sleeved light wind/shower jacket on which came off after 2 holes saturated and was substituted with my full Sunderland jacket, that didn't come off until the last 5 holes when the rain stopped and the sun came out, 2 pairs of normal gloves in the first 3 holes then changed to MacWets which stayed on for the duration, some of the greens were flash flooded on the first 10 holes with large puddles but we cracked on, by the 16th the course was bone dry and those just going out, in shorts, had the best of the day but I was then retiring to the bar for a few Rev James bitters

It wasn't cold so the rain didn't bother me or anyone in my group.

Teed off yesterday wearing shorts and a jumper - it poured it down for a couple of holes - still wearing shorts and a jumper- rain stopped , took jumper off. Too warm to put extra layers on yesterday. Never walk in with rain - skin is waterproof after all

Great minds. I say it every time it rains and you get the parade of daft golfers suiting up with waterproofs for a 10 minute shower. As long as I have a brolly, I'm set to go. I have my own man made waterproofs.

My brolly is pretty redundant these days, its just too much hassle, never found a decent holder to attach to my trolley and was a pain having it sliding all the time, and if I carry it, you've got to fanny about with it too much, so, it stays in the boot. I tend to jump under someone else's brolly whilst they take their tee shot, otherwise my cap and jacket does enough.

Walked in the other week, it was truly miserable, started off okay with light(ish) rain coming straight down, no problem, get under brolly when not playing, happy days. A few holes in the cloud base descended and it was hard work tracking the ball and the rain had turned to that light drizzle, which no matter what waterproofs you wear seems to get in everywhere. Then the wind got, champion, it'll clear the cloud and we could see bright skies coming toward us.

N'ahh, that was the golfing gods having a laugh at our expense, as no sooner had the clouds broken the, rain charged in. It was coming down like stair rods and in the wind practically horizontal to the ground. It just was not fun, it wasn't golf either. So we walked in, enough was enough.

I have bought all the gg gear and I think it's great. Good to no that I have it there in heavy rain!
Can't stand using an umbrella for some reason!

Tend to prefer not to use a brolly unless its long and continuous rain and I need to put a dry towel under there. Other than that I tend to get damp in light drizzle, certainly at this time of year, with a set of clothes waiting in the locker room. I'll put a jacket on if I have to but the trousers are a last resort. Sadly, there was sod all choice yesterday.

Unless the course is unplayable of there's lightening around I'll stay out. Played crap yesterday and it would have been an easy option after nine to jack it in but kept on going to mark the PP's card

'Managed' the weather pretty well yesterday!

Travelled the 40 miles in the dry; coffee and a read while it hammered it down - only getting a sprinkling when I moved the clubs into the bag-drop from outside; small amount of rain while on the range - grabbed a covered one when the gaggle of Asians and their kids moved out; kept the W/ps on for the first hole, but was steaming by the 2nd, so into mate's bag (I carry, he has a Clic Gear and a Tour Bag with an empty pocket!); rest of round in fabulous sunshine, so 19th was outside; drove home in the dry; another downpour 5 mins after I got in!

I hate umbrellas - except as a last resort. More hassle than they are worth normally. Though they make good targets for back yard chipping!

I love the rain

Umbrellas - too much faffing and break
Waterproofs - UA Jacket and my *shorts*, my legs dry quicker than my trousers
Gloves - A few extra in my bag anyways
The rain - course is always empty, if it isnt it speeds up play

The *shorts* law is N/A Oct-Feb ;)

I hate swinging in jackets, so I just have a short shower top. That with a cap and a brolly. In the winter i wear a base and jumper. Cant see the point in spending hundreds of pounds on the posh gear. Played 10-12 years 2-3 times a week and without walking off I think I've been soaked through 3 or 4 times
