Today I discovered that my ski trousers don't make good waterproof trousers!! They've been great all winter bit of rain and the cold etc. Today is chucked it down, to start with all was good, put my jacket on all was good, a couple of holes later and I started to pay the price. Started to think they wouldn't put up with much more, by the fourth hole of cats and dogs I could hardly walk, they were soaking up like a sponge, I started to look like a youth with his trousers hanging around his bum cheeks! Had to walk in on the ninth as I could feel it running down my leg and my arse was soaking!! This didn't help my shoe problem from the earlier post!! New trousers me thinks!! And maybe a bit longer!!

My wife has pointed me in the direction of Cotton Traders! Waterproof, fleece lined trousers for £40. Might be worth a wee try I think. Anyone know of any other good deals?

These are the best trousers i've ever had quite honestly. Great breathability, robust and bone dry. I got them free form the manufacturers rep in work. Great price too. Can't recommend them highly enough, i actually use the jacket for golf too. Great gear

(by the way, i'm nothing to do with that company!)

can't stretch to the galvin trousers for a long while!! Would love some though!! So will have to look for a cheap alternative, got the jacket with Xmas bonus 12 months ago but as I don't work anymore they are out of the equation. It was amazing how bloody heavy they were when I took them off lol!!

Got some Ping ones (Tornado??) for this winter and they are the dogs danglies.

Really comfortable, breathable, quiet and waterproof.

Only about £30 I got them for aswell.

I'm off the opinion that you do not need to spend a fortune on over trousers. You'll pick up a good waterproof breathable pair for under £40 on ebay. Look at Ping, Sunice, Proquip, Sunderland, and if your lucky you may find a set of older model FJ ones.

Also look at some budgets such as Woodworm. My theory is your legs don't really perspire as much so as long as your waterproof your laughing.

I was lucky enough to get a couple of pairs of Callaway Gortex trousers from Sports Direct a couple of years back - at £22 a pair. I think this was because Callaway have now changed their supplier, and is probably my best golfing related bargain.

Teamed with a GG jacket, and I'm bone dry for the round. :)
