A brolly perched on a holder on a trolly should keep light rain out of a bag.

When its coming in side ways then clubs tend to get wet no matter what method or bag you use.

I play a fair bit of golf in the rain living in Ireland and this issue doesn't bother me at all. I only put a glove on once the rain gets bad.

An issue with waterproof bags is that, generally, they have fewer pockets and those pockets don't open as wide.
It, obviously, costs more to seal the seams and zips so the more pockets you have and the wider they open, the higher the price.
Is the trade-off for waterproofness worth the reduction in storage and access?

In my view, the bag doesn't need to be waterproof, only the pockets.

All bags these days have one waterproof valuables pocket. I wish a manufacturer would bring out a bag that also had waterproof storage pockets for clothing, snacks etc. Some areas, e.g. water bottle holder and ball pocket, don't need to be waterproof.

Maybe the big max dri-lite series does this? They claim to be water resistant and not fully waterproof. What is the difference? Anybody have any experience of this?
