Played a 1st Div Open yesterday on my own course with 2 of our youngish guys, on off Scratch and the other off 5. Hoped it would give me inspiration and that I'd rise to the level.....

Birdied the 1st, and Par's from there to the 4th, saw me -1 after 4, against their +1 after 4, Happy days.
Pulled my 2nd into a greenside Bunker on the 5th, and maybe down to me, or more likely the frankly awful sand in our Bunkers, I took 2 to get out, and even put that one across the green into the Bunker on the other side !
Finished with a 7, to darken my mood.

Got the head back in order to finish the front 9 on +5, so steady, perhaps inspired by the 3 Birdies in a row from my scratch partner. Awesome.

Cut a long story short, 2 more 'bad' holes on the back 9 saw me finish on Nett 74, whilst my partners finished slightly more artisticly.

Mind you, you should have heard the moaning that a Scratch player can do on a round that included 4 Birdies, and 4 bogies, for a Gross 68 to finish with !! Different pressure I s'pose.....

I gave him some stick in the Clubhouse after tho',..... after learning that he'd picked up £20 for the best 4 "Team' Score, and also the 2nd Best Nett of the day, to pocket £85 !!

To cap it all, they asked if I wanted to partner up again for next weekends Comp too  I cant have been that bad company !

I'd soon bring them down to my level. By the 5th I'd have tem crying for their mum. Joking aside it is always good to play with to quality players. I played with a pro and his assistant last summer who were practicing for a pro-am on my course. The assistant was all over the shop and the pro missed a lot of greens but never failed once to get it up and down. Different gravy.
