Shock horror!!!! Not for me though. It's for my dad for xmas. Was up with him today and he showed me his new toy. He was very proud of the bargain he got himself. A TP12 dunlop chipper. The biggest problem though is that it's the 2 faced version. His face dropped when I told him it was non-conforming.

I asked why he was wanting one because I always felt his short game and putting are his strongest area. To this he revealed he has lost all confidence in using conventional clubs around the green and is now developing the yips. His putting stroke is strong and he had tried a mates chipper and enjoyed it. So can anyone help me out with a chipper for around the £10 mark posted? He will not take time to practice so that isn't an option. Anything in decent condition and conforming considered. Maybe Gibbo has spotted something on his trawls of the bay.

He wouldn't go to a lesson. Plays enough to justify one but can be a stubborn git. I honestly think that he'd revert back to his proper play after a few round using it but if you'd have seen his face when I told him he couldn't use it in comps. It's was like I had took a dump on his favorite pair of shoes. Besides this is not the ATE section.

BTW anyone with one but not willing to admit they had tried can always just PM me. ;)

Got a brand new howson one that's done about 10 mins of a practice green and a couple of rounds in a mates bag, will post pics tonight

I was in SD last night, and they had a chipper in stock which was just like a putter head, as well as a dual-faced one.

"The clubhead must only have one striking face, except that a putter may have two such faces if their characteristics are the same, and they are opposite each other." (Rules of Golf, Appendix II, Design of Clubs, 4d.)

I'm a bit confused, there were two styles of chipper in store. One was a dual-faced club for LH/RH use; but the [chipper I'm referring to (linked in prev. - http://www.sportsdirect.com/dunlop-tour-tp12-chipper-871171) was essentially a lofted putter.. one striking face, and a back that looked not dissimilar to an Odyssey White Ice. I had thought about it for £9, but if the club is in a grey area rules-wise, I'll leave it alone and go back to practising chipping with a proper club. :D

No grey area with the one you posted a link to. It is legal. Only one striking face. The one my dad bought was the dual headed one. He thought it would be handy for round the green and also when he had an awkward shot requiring a left handed shot. I told him he could happily carry a left handed version of the single face one as well as the right handed version. He replied "Why don't they just allow us to declare the dual headed club as 2 and limit to 13 physical clubs instead." Reasonable logic to me.

Worst part is the fact that in store there is no indication that the club is non complying. Most people unaware of the rule would probably take the dual face with the though that it would be handy for awkward lies unaware of the fact they have just put an illegal club in the bag.

Anyway thanks for the offers guys. Managed to find a suitable option for the old man so this can be closed.
