After a bye through to the 2nd round we were itching to play our Volvo Pairs match tonight at the Bedfordshire and were met by our opponents who were really nice to go round with, also easily communicated to arrange a date..
First time my partner and myself have played a pairs knockout, he off 9 and me of 20 with 3/4 handicaps gave me 8 shots and I used them to my advantage.
Never played them course before but it looked lush and luckily the rain stayed away. Our opponents conceded after 13 holes, we were 5 up and I had a shot on the next 2 holes and they didn't think they had a chance so offered their hands and an early beer.
We played really well as a pair, he was consistent and I was striking it well from tee to green, if I was wayward of the tee I managed to make it to the green for a par attempt, even stiffed a 180 6 iron from just short of the OOB to 6 feet from the hole in 2..
Great evening and really chuffed, home tie next which will be great. Still flying the GM flag
