Virtual 18 holes??

Mmmm.
370 to go.
I'll get the 3 wood out again.
Nice smooth swing.
Good connection, bit of a push but a nice bounce and we're just right of centre about 150 out.
I need a coffee, is the hut still close by?

Given the freezing conditions I've thought on and packed my flask full of coffee, as long as you take it black I'm happy to share a cup with you Imurg!

And while your enjoying that cup of Colombia's best (okay, maybe second best!) I pull out my 6 iron for 150 and take a nice easy few swings to get the weight of the club.

I take my stance and aim right at the heart of the green and repeat that smooth swing again. It feels a little bit heavy but the ball launches well and goes straight, landing a little short of the green it takes a few bounces off the frozen turf and runs up onto the green finishing just past the pin but to the left hand side. From here it looks to be about 10 feet away from the cup.

It's better than you thought Matty, 7feet left, nice shot.

I see this one as a ball outside the right, then it's all about pace. Good stroke, bit bobbly, missing right, hit's an old piece of frozen pitchmark and jumps back on line and dives into the cup.

Back to level par, game on.

Long, long par 3. 235 yards. One bunker short left. Just length to protect it. Slight head wind.

3 wood.

Pulled it. Crap.

20 yards left. Pin cut to the left. Tricky to get up and down from here.

are all these holes stroke index 1 then?

A majority of the front was SI 18 driveable par 4s but we still ended up +3! Total of only just under 2700 yards!

I predict a +21 back 9 as this one will be about 5000 looking at the previous few holes.

Fixed for you

5 ft eh?

Looks pretty straight, fairly flat, maybe left edge.

Stroke the Sabertooth and another par.

200+ yard par 3's - eat 'em for breakfast.

Next.

Here is the next hole,

Someone have a bash at the green!!

Hole14.jpg

Not had a driveable par 4 in what feels like ages, kinda got used to them so I brought one back!

Either go over the island to the green, got to draw round the tree!

OR

Go over the water to the right, needs a good draw.

OR

GO at the trees on the right and stay short of the water.

Fade is a bad shot as the fairway gets soggy and it can sit pretty bad close to the pond. The stream tends not to swallow up shots as the banks are slightly raised.

My fav place is in the trees on the right, been there A LOT!

The green is slightly uphil and the bunker short swallows like mad! Good long bunker shot needed for anyone in it. Also the hollows on either side of the green make for a tough up and down as the green is a beast!

Green is a fierce two tier front high back low, hollows either side. Each tier slopes away to the side and the front and back!

Like two upturned saucers!

Pin is on the front right today by the bunker! 5 feet in and 6 from the right.

I like the look of the hole and it suits my eye especially with the wind behind. Would be worried with wind against but not today. Tee it up a little higher and i'm thinking catch it on the way up to get it out there.

Nice island , wonder if theres many ducks on there , probs gonna get loads of duck pooh on my trolley wheels , bah

Come on concentrate , whos moving their shadow ? Smiffy FFS I thought you'd bottled it and gone for a pint of shandy.

Settle over it and feel everyones eyes on me , start to get negative thoughts. Let it rip and off it goes , looks good for line but has it got enough , holding our breath and.....it lands and we see it bounce. Collective sighs of relief all round. We walk round the lake and find the ball sitting nicely anout 20 yards short. Good lie but theres work to be done for the birdie.
