"Our prices are increasing from 1st May 2023. Plus, we're making some changes to our services and pricing terms."

I've been hit with a 26% increase in my subscription!

Eeeek

We had a pricing query with them a couple of months back and they knocked 2p odd quid off the monthly bill so if it goes up by 10 we're still "up"..

Renewed with Virgin less than a year ago......I called to cancel and they lowered the amount quite a bit so I stayed (how many times have I done this....?). I'll likely be doing the same thing this month since my email said they would increase my package by £21.50. I have pretty basic stuff, but I have an extra box in the garage so I can use the treadmill and watch tv. I get tired of doing this dance with these companies..... I'm calling to cancel, then they call back with a better deal to keep you from leaving. I'm too lazy to want to get a good antenna and buy a box etc etc....I just want decent service at a somewhat reasonable price. If they raise my monthly to about £85 a month.....I guess I need to see what Sky can do.

Where I live I'm pretty much stuck with using Virgin for internet if I want to continue to work from home. I use them for TV and phone too but my package is now exorbitant.

I was thinking of keeping the internet but cancelling the other two and switching to Sky Stream for some extra TV channels. Has anyone tried Sky Stream? TV + Sky Sports is £46 a month and that's much better than my Virgin bill.

My wife's contract is being changed. Bt putting it up stupid amount (in relation to what it is) considering it's SIM only and supposed to get £5 discount for being BT customer .. it's crept up past £15 (used to be £10 back in day)

Lebra mobile £7 a month for 15gb data and 5g .. which before she had 12gb data and 4g ... Plus includes roaming for EU which she didn't have before

My contract ends soon..they putting it up to £51 from £43..(took it out at £40) so bought a phone and going SIM only for £15 sod em.. they want 36 month deals? Yeah right

O2 putting mobile tariffs up by February RPI + 3.9%. So a 17.3% increase in total. I can understand the increase by the rate of inflation, but the extra 3.9% is unjustifiable, especially in the current climate. If all businesses did this, inflation would rise still further.
Coincidentally EE and Vodafone are increasing their rates by exactly the same amount, to the percentage point.
This in my view is price fixing, which is illegal.
I said as much to Ofcom in a tweet. They replied with this…https://ofcom.in/3OPewYC and https://ofcom.in/3xaN00A

I'm fully against the increases, the idea is you agree a price for a contract and you pay it.

If it applied just to the tiny part of your contract which is the air time then thats justified but the fact that they apply it to phone and air time in the main. Sorry has the cost you paid for the handset in my possession gone up? Nope you paid that already so are just making more money off me on something you will already get back what you paid (and more)

Plus when out of deal you can move normally to a cheaper contract for a new phone or whatever shows it's affordable for them

If you can still offer the same or better for less than your charging someone you cant justify putting the people in a fixed contract up

I mean energy for example the fix is just that. Same with a mortgage .. you fix and if goes up in that time u don't get charged more your protected .. if goes down you don't get the saving

But a phone? How the heck can they go oh we need that money .. just greed

Just starting to look around at alternatives to Virgin. I haven't been with Sky for a number of years, is their internet slow enough to be irritating? I wouldn't mind a switch just to get a few channels I haven't seen for a number of years. I think you also get Netflix with Sky? The EE/BT combo doesn't sound bad either.
