Vettel Eighth Win in a Row

This has been the worst season in a long time, I think the gap is partly Newey' excellence and partly the others having a VERY poor season.
McLaren should have carried on with last years car.
Lotus ran out/never had money.
And Mercedes have screwed about with management.

Take away the driving aids and make them use a proper gear stick again.

I think this is a big part of it as well. The cars are just too easy to drive. If they stopped limiting the things every year and just let them build a fast car it would get interesting again. I doubt if any of the current crop of drivers could handle one of the old 3 litre turbo monsters that Prost, Mansell, Senna etc drove

...Christian Horner and Sky being so far up Christian Horner's backside I can't bare to watch it anymore!

Total dominance by Vettel this year! More than just the car, otherwise Webber would be much more competitive - or complaining very loudly!

The attempts to make it more interesting/competitive worked earlier in the season, but have been countered by solid tactics.

The sport needs some random events, like rain, to create some interest. Top Motorcycle races are much more interesting imo.

I couldnt agree less to be honest. Mansell was a fantastic driver, no doubting that, but he won in a car which was FAR more superior than any of his competitors car.
The older drivers often comment how difficuilt they would find it now, and if you want to see how hard it is to drive a f1 car, watch Richard Hammond (a pro driver) cause half a mill damage in one lap.

Its interesting reading all these comments, I spent over 10 years in F1. I was there when Button first drove the Prost at Barcelona and Webber was in the Arrows telling us about his flipping Le Mans experience. I worked with Vettel right at the beginning in BMW Sauber, after I had done my stint in Ferrari and caused diplomatic mayhem, when I caught them out.
Regarding this season, I turned off and tuned out. I went for an interview and was completely blown away by the idiocy. Every one is trying to simulate stuff or "model" it and they are completely clueless. The problem for F1 is simple, there are no other formula for car designers to learn their trade... Hence Rory and Adrian ruling the roost. The McLaren was always a steady development, this years car is just poor, the damping is dreadful no driver will go at speed when the car is bouncing.
The other issue is, the same old engineers trundle around the teams, when each team finds out they know very little they move to the next, and when the rounds are done the slip down to another formula.
In my heart I have given up on my career, and I will slip into a contract at one of the factories.

Wow, interesting stuff. So with your inside info, whats your opinion on Vettel? Is he that far ahead of everyone else on ability or could anyone go fast in the RB?

Vettel will win more he is real deal, there really is no challenger in the right car. Alonso is good but, Kimi coming to Ferrari will cause a few issues. Since the managerial structure changed at Ferrari, they are doing what Italians do ( I would say this is opinion, but sadly its fact and experience). We lost another challenger in Kubica, I seriously think he would have been the one to chase Vettel down. The other driver who needs a good seat is Hulkenberg, he dominated GP2 and seems to be clever enough.
The thing is you can be a fast driver and have enormous car control, but if you are not very smart you will complain about something be it the tyres or the car etc.. The thing is to get across the car issues to the engineers and understand what your being told. Both of which all the drivers I have mentioned can do. I think F1 is missing drivers there are a few I would like to see in F1 Vietoris and Calado are just 2.
But as always its money that is talking, I often think if you can get to a certain level with minimal sponsors, your worth a punt. But if you have had the fresh engine, tyres , new chassis etc in karting of cause you will be quick ...

It does and its financially related... your seeing the big oil money coming from South America and their telecommunications giants financing as well. As a sponsor you have to ask yourself what do I get? The answer is not a lot, a race weekend is hugely expensive, for your average joe, chuck in a luxury hotel, helicopter ride/chauffeur, grid walk, paddock club and pass ... As a major sponsor you will get a paddock club pass but the rest you stump up for over and above what has been already put in.
The teams know how to just burn money they have so many hanger on's and oxygen thieves it is unbelievable ...and that's wearing team kit.

Vettel has to be the real deal. He showed that in Brazil last year. Also he loves getting the fastest lap, Quite often the team are telling are telling him to slow it down towards the end of the race.

Sorry I should have said he is the real deal because he is not a one trick pony, he understands and feels the car and the tyres and can accommodate both. Telling him to slow down suggests there is a lack of confidence in his ability and not enough understanding as to why he can do it.
I will say this Hamilton, is a lot of people's favourite, but he is a fantastically talented 1 trick pony, unless of cause he decides to listen and learn. He likes the car to be on the nose, and generates a lot of turn in o/s plus he likes to dump the throttle aggressively and can handle the twitchy rear this causes. However this is not the way to drive these tyres. It works in qualifying, because the heat generation is quick, the tyre comes on song and he can utilise the grip whilst the rubber is fresh. However the damage he causes hurts him strategically. I was hoping his years with Button might teach him something, but I think he dedicated his time to Nicole's lessons.

Lewis think about it..... Watch Jenson and how he looks after his tyres or watch Nicole and watch how she  I know which one for me
