Evening all,
Well today i went in to buy what i thought were going to be my new mizuno mx 200's........
I was trading my own Wilson Staff FG Tour Irons against them.......One shop wanted 130€ with my wilsons for the Mizzy's the other were looking for 30 euro with my wilsons for the Cobra's no prizes for guessing why i went with the cobra's in the end.
I ended up coming away with a new set of Cobra S2's 5-SW with Reg Nippon N.S Pro 1030H shafts
I played 9 holes on the course with them and i just couldnt hit a bad shot with the Cobra's......
I was bordering on Stiff shafts but somehow the regulars felt better.....I felt i could feel where the clubhead was nearly all through the swing.
Granted the Cobra's are a little Fuglier than the Mizuno's but the performance cant even be argued with....

Cobra's are slightly wider on the sole but not by much and what i didnt like with the mizuno's was being able to see the back of the longer irons at address.
The ball just seems to fly off the face of the cobra's.
The pro also told me that i will be able to grow with these clubs as this will be my intention.

Iv never heard of the shafts on the cobra's before....Are they any good.....What would you compare them with.

Now all i need is to sort out my gapping system again.... :D

It was a toss up for me between the cobras and the Callaway, both were great but it was the chunky sole that swayed it for me, they are a cracking club though and hope you play well with them.

I've not hit many Cobra irons although I did try the their latest forged model at a demo day at Sand Martins about a month ago and they seemed quite a powerful club and the ball did fizz away. The Nippon is a fairly standard shaft but if you are hitting them well then go for it if you're happy

shame you didn't get on with the wilsons.. i love mine :D

I know Pete....They are lovely bats but i just wasnt hitting them consistently enough well to merit me keeping them....But when i did hit good shots with them they felt great.......Hopefully the Cobra's will behave :D :D

S2s + Nippons......couldn't have picked better.

I approve big time. What I didn't tell you (and wanted to, but wanted you to decide) was that the Cobras are listed on Maltby's MPF list as more forgiving than the Mizunos.

I bought my Cobras because of the Nippon shafts. Had them in my Orkas and they felt great and really regretted getting rid of them. The fact that the same shafts were standards in my SZ irons sold them for me

The truth comes out :D :D :D

Ya dave they just felt right to me.....Iv been reading plenty of reviews about both clubs and there in the same category G.I......But i just seemed to nail every shot with the Cobra's...Wherever i aimed they went!

Just as a matter of interest...Do you have a link to that site and are there drivers and woods on it also?

Going to hijack this thread here!! With regards to the Cobra drivers and woods keep a look out for any demo days coming as the Drivers that they do are super. I went to one that my Coach had arranged. Slightly different feel to them but once you get used to them they are great particually the S2 which is not only great to look at but seriously long.

Fantasic shafts, was fitted for my mizunos with those shafts in. Far out-performed any others. Good choice.

Look up Ralph Maltby and see if you can download some of the MPF charts.

I'm on the forum at the site (it's easy to register w/out an email address or anything). It's no secret that I'd like a set of SGI irons, so I've asked a few q?s on there.
I played with some Tommy Armour irons that I believe Ralph designed, they were brilliant clubs and I trust his science (for want of a better word).
