It was thinking about new courses that reminded of this. When we were at Damme (Belgium) we were just at the first tee - 8 of us - wafting the drivers, and warming up - as you do. When three guy came jogging across, small bags, with half a dozen clubs each. Mind if we go through they say - we'd like to get round quite quickly. We let them in. What's the logo on the shirt we ask. Oh we're training for the world speed golf record - we're training to play 7 rounds, in 7 countries in 24hours!
First player drops a ball on the tee & hits it - next player has hit his shot before the first ball has landed, and third ball airborne whilst second still bouncing. And off they run. When we get round the corner of the dogleg on the first, they are nowhere to be seen - and never seen again. 7 rounds, 7 countries in 24hr gives about 3 1/2 hours for each round and travel to the next country and get ready for next round??
Anyone ever come across a speed-golfer before? Medal play at home seems quite sedate!
