Our Pro Shop has a pretty nice set of G10s for sale at a decent price and I'm tempted.

I won't get a chance to try them for a few days but just thought I'd see whether people thought it would be a worthwhile upgrade?

Questions you need to ask..

Current clubs:

  • Shafts? OK or not
    Heads? Worn or not
    Groves? Worn or not
Forgiveness? As good as it used to be?
Wear? Are you noticing anything that worries you?

New Clubs:

  • Condition of all of the above? Are you getting any improvements?
    Any concerns with the set
Can you get anything improved for free or cheap? ie new grips?
    Shaft? Better tech? Similar spec?
Head? More technology? Anything to make your game better about them?

G2's will be quite ancient by club standards now, 5-6 years old.
If you've been playing a lot then they will have worn a bit. Don't get me wrong, they're still a worthy set but the forgiveness levels of the G10 are acres ahead of the G2.
At your handicap you may find the i10 a better bet as an upgrade - you obviously hit a decent ball. Good levels of forgiveness too.

Hrc, I would try them first and see if there is any difference to your current clubs, upgrading is ok in some circumstances but beware,I did all the way to the i15 irons and didnt get on with them, now playing with really old eye2s,and my game is good(at the mo)...

Try before you buy irrespective of whether you buy old or new. You'd never buy a new or 2nd hand car without a test drive and checking the quality and so I always apply the same principles to buying clubs.

Obviously I will be trying them out. I'd never buy a set without trying them first.

I wa just interested as to whether I should expect any real differences.

as above, I definately recommend a try before you buy policy.

I had a set of G2's given me last year from my dad who had upgraded to G10's, now I am using the g10's and he is back to the G2's.

I find the G10's easier to hit, but my dad it playing better with the G2's. Both sets were custom fit to his spec.

Definately try first, I had the g2 driver and when I was looking to upgrade I found sonewhere doing g10 cheap, it was nasty! Just shows the newer model sometimes isn't always better
