Update: Titleist day at Silvermere GC - Thursday February 19th

I'll echo what was said about the hybrids. Was comparing my 5w with the Titleist one. My 5w was better... he popped a 2hybrid in my hands, played with it's head. Better dispertion. Same length.

Brilliant day. Started off perfectly with a very enjoyable round in excellent company - shame the course was suffering a bit but would like to go back and play it in the summer.

And then the highlight testing the new Titleist range. Only 2 words from me - absolute quality. From drivers right the way through to the new Pro V's. Could have quite easily ordered everything, but very keen on the 915D2 and new Scotty Cameron's! Booking a custom fit for the 915 very soon I would expect - didn't think I would change from Taylormade, but the numbers and consistency of the strike and flight are just too good not to!

RickG was right - now I can swing the club past my belly I seem to be hitting the ball further............:swing::thup:

Huge thanks to GM and Titleist for the opportunity.

You hit it miles already, you are just being greedy!

The 5 hour drive home in driving rain failed to dampen a truly brilliant day. Golf in the morning with five other forumers was thoroughly enjoyable, less said about the quality. Then to the driving range with the Titleist boys and their latest range. For me this was a real eye-opener. I started playing 7 years ago and have not changed my driver/irons since. I have never been that interested in the technology behind the equipment to be honest, launch angle, ball speed etc meant relatively little to me. Having been pleased with my current Titleist driver 907, I want to now bin it having hit the new 915 D3. Apart from carrying an extra 25 yards (which I kind of knew would be the case), the actual spin stat was the most revealing - less than half than my current driver - no wonder my errant tee shots go so badly wrong. Also tried the 915 3 Wood, loved it. arrow straight with ease and carries further than my current driver. The 5W was ridiculously easy to hit as well, something that I cannot compare it too having never possessed one. I did prefer the AP2 irons to the AP1 and as for the putters, did like the one of the Scotty Cameron's but my current Odyssey would be difficult to replace.

The boys at Titleist were brilliant and not once was there any hard-sell which I was kind of expecting and would have easily walked away with a massive dent in the credit card and not told the wife. Massive to thanks to them and especially to Mike and Jake for giving me this opportunity. Now I have a real incentive to give up smoking so that I can afford an upgrade of my equipment.
