Underrated Tracks

Really not played it this year was very good when I played it , it was in the northern order of merit qualifiers.

I don't think it is anymore, well I'd be amazed if it was. I, loved the layout, but expected it to be much better than it was. No sand in bunkers is a sure sign things aren't good.

Arbroath links, smashing course

I'm not sure whether I was seriously underwhelmed by this or it was 'dwarfed' by the afternoon round at Carnoustie!

Certainly pleasant enough and the members were really hospitable, but seems to demonstrate the aspects that links 'haters' (I'm a links lover!) harp on about! Same could also almost be said about Leven though - which I really rather like, especially the challenge of that last hole! Seems I favour courses that have a bit more definition - but that's a reflection of me, rather than the courses!

It still amazes me how James Braid managed to do all that work from such a distance when transport was nowhere near as simple - he must have spent an enormous amount of time in a railway carriage!

I played Reddish Vale a couple of times 2 years ago an thought it a lovely course, very sad if its gone downhill.
