So today I took the plunge and got a set of trial contact lenses to help me with my golf, being short sighted I need glasses to see anything far away, it's not too bad, just blurred.

So after years of wearing goggles to play golf I will be swapping them for contacts.

Anyone else made the jump and any success stories?

Haven't had the courage to even try hitting a ball wearing my glasses yet. Maybe I should as been crap all year, if I do get round to trying to play in them and do well I could blame my crap form on my eyesight!

Hmmmmm I've had an idea....

Yup - go with contacts - you'll get used to them. No more wiping rain and drips of sweat of your glasses or pushingthem back up the bridge of your nose when over a putt. Been wearing contacts for near 30yrs and recently gone vari-focal lense glasses (it's an age thing) and dailies for my contacts. I mix and match - but usually play with contacts.

ive been wearing contacts for the last 12 years. a fear I have is one falling out when playing at a nice away course. it really would spoil my enjoyment. I have a few disposable spares in my car and the odd time in my bag. I would struggle to get a lens into my eye out on the course without a mirror.

In saying that, I remember the first time I wore them to play football. it was unreal.

When I'm wearing contacts I always take my glasses with me. Often I'll take a spare lens as well. I used to wear gas permeables and you could rub your eyes all day long with them rarely going anywhere - not so with disposables - and sometimes I forget.

Too true. Think it can do more than hurt though, heard of tales of trips to the Hospital as they become glued on:)

I have a mate who used to wear disposables for weeks at a time. how he managed to do it is beyond me. after 12hours my eyes are dry as a bone. he has since seen the errors of way. thankfully before he lost his sight. silly bugger! skint students eh?

Me too, if I wear mine all day come bedtime I cannot wait to get them out. He has been a lucky boy TBH.

if im on a long boozing session its not so bad. they can last as long as I can. staring at laptop or tv screens makes them dry out very quickly.

Only because they were too whoosie to get really stuck in to their eyeballs with their fingers ;)

Never happened to me. I know the Optician I saw told me once one chap had to go to Hospital as he went to bed with them in and when he got up in the morning his lens was stuck and had to go to A&E to get it removed. They did it eventually but from what I remember it was a tricky process. It is common sense though use them properly and follow guidelines and you should not have any problems

I have contacts but only wear them on holiday or if the now rare occurence of a game of footie rears its head. I always carry my specs, a spare lenses and some solution (travel size).

I don't think i'd struggle without a mirror, more so knowing i'd have dirty/sweaty hands or more likely, a sudden gust of wind blowing the one replacement contact I had right out of my finger meaning a comical moment on my hands and knees looking for it as the group behind looks on in bewilderment

I got contacts about 2 months ago, before that I did not use anything as I do not ware my glasses away from the office or sofa. I found I could stand up easier on my putts and feel more comfortable over the ball on the green. No other plus or minus effects apart from I look sexier on the sofa and in the office.

tried it and after 15 minutes of pulling my eyes around it wouldnt come out and I looked like I hadnt slept for 3 days.........love the idea and freedom it gives but a bloody nightmare to put in and out

Never had a problem removing them. I can now put them both in and take them out in under a minute without even using a mirror. When people struggle I wonder if they have the right lens for their eye or whether they eyes are suitable at all for them.
