What the hell did the first member tweet? It must have been like starting a Mexican wave in the home end at Wigan.

It certainly means that no Arsenal fan has ever tweeted about winning a trophy

Do you Tweet?

I am on twitter an find it really good. I mostly follow and don't tweet much as let's face it, no one wants to listen to what I say. As those of you who read my posts here will testify.

But I find it very useful for areas of my work. And also for stalking attractive female celebrities and looking at pictures of them they post. Try @BLAIRONEAL as you can justify it as it is golf related, and she likes posting pictures of her attractive self. The one last week with her sister, hubba hubba..:)

Serial tweeter here.

I actually prefer Twitter to Facebook these days as I find it more useful, with less drab updates

Follow a few guys on here and have a bit of banter along the way.

I have it, never really used it until the TM day. i kind of like it, but cant see me becoming a serial user. i do like following sports people, Poulter is good, David Lloyd, joey Barton, all good for their own reasons!

i dont have anything important enough to share really, no one is interested in what i am having for my tea etc, i think for normo muggles like us, its a place to tell people stuff that the physical people you are near are not interested in hearing...

Officially I suppose it would be @Jack "inviting coworkers" by Jack Dorsey, co-founder. He used to write a Blackberry messaging app for delivery companies that the drivers would use to post location updates. It grew from there.

I use Twitter as a real time news service. I would rarely post, but recently a few people I know have actually started to follow me, so that's caused me to post a few bits. Not a serial tweeter, but I like watching and listening to the birds. ;)

Feel the same but must admit to the odd ,, am i missing out on something ? maybe 1 thing through all the drivel ?

Ah im sure il survive

I felt the same until a few weeks ago and took the plunge, mostly for a work basis. Twitter is great if you just use it to follow people for professional, social, sporting or sexual reasons. At the same time I signed up to Facebook, but I can't be doing with that. Most posts on there are also twitter, but twitter is more concise. Plus Facebook to me seems full of pictures of peoples kids and dinners. Fine if you are after that, but I'm not.

Exactly... Got thru' my teen's, 20's, 30's & 40's without the need for a mobile communicator... Absolutely sure I didn't miss out on any social or sexual intercourse due to my lack of same...

Now we have the ipad generation seemingly... Do those TV presenters who have one strapped to their hand know what total and utter .... they look like... And as for those that walk around with one hanging out of their back pockets... Oh dear...

If a fella's big enough to have an ipad hanging out of his back pocket I'm not going to tell him he looks a ......!

does anyone listen or care though? (not a personal dig!) that comment can be aimed at millions of people!

Depends who you have following you, I'm followed by a lot of fellow foodies in Manchester so have quite a bit of interaction with them but I see what you mean. When I tweet regarding NFL or general news items I rarely get a response and obviously don't know how many people actually see it.

Cool re the food club type thing, i can see the value in that..

however based on your quote, makes me wonder why people bother tweeting. again, please dont take this as a personal jab, just using you as a pawn in my game of "does twitter have a point for the normo's like us?"

It depends what you intend to use it for, I have a lot of friends who joined Twitter and lasted about 2 days then quit. Probably because they tweeted stuff and no-one read it or cared as opposed to Facebook where they are more likely to get a response.

Yeh i have friends on the faceache that just yearn for "likes" on pictures and statements, my mrs used to get phoned up and quizzed why she hadnt liked a picture another friend had put up of their kids or something... some people need help though. thats why we both binned it, plus husband and wife would put a comment:

husband - Oh i love my wife so much, isnt she great
wife - thanks dear, love you too kind of rubbish...

When you know 100% they are both sat on the same sofa!!!! there is no need!!!!!

Its a public popularity contest, cant stand it. would much rather phone someone, or worse still, go and see them for a pint!!

I do get the people that have diverse family and friends worldwide, so it does make it easy etc...

this is turning into a what annoys you thread! Ooops!

That is the problem with Facebook but any people like that I just delete :p

Yes if you are using it to follow people of interest to you. For example I am a school governor, and I follow a few good people who tweet useful links. Same professionally, I have picked up lots of useful stuff through links on twitter.

It is becoming more and more used as a tool for learning, and using the internet to communicate and learn is becoming as natural as the ability to wear jeans in a clubhouse to the kids today. ;)
