Looking for a nice 42/46" flatscreen possibly, anyone know what to buy ?

LCD / Plasma or LED ???? :D

We havent as yet got SkyHD - considering it, just cant justify the additional £10 really, but know the pic quality is superb......

Seen a pretty nice Panasonic 42" LED (D25) - and people say Panasonic is at the top perhaps....

Any advice anyone ?

Over the past few years I've swapped tellies quite a bit. Have had 3 LCD's (started off with 32" Samsung, then 37" Toshiba and finally a 40" Samsung).
For some reason I stuck with LCD but eventually bit the bullet last November and purchased my current set, a 50" Panasonic Plasma. Absolutely love it, knocks the previous sets into a cocked hat. And it wasn't that expensive to be honest (was the cheapest one in the Viera range)and I got it for just on £600.00. I think they offer them in 42" too so if you don't want anything as big as 50" they are a fair bit cheaper. My mate has got the 42" version of my model and he loves his too.
A good source of information and honest reviews can be found here...well worth joining the forum, some great advice will be found.

If my Panny Plasma went "bang" tomorrow, would I buy another one?
Without a shadow of doubt.

I have a panasonic viera. Absolutely fantastic telly, the sound is really good through it's own speakers so if don't use an amp it's definayely good enough, but it really excels in picture quality, I looked at all other available TVS, some were close but the panasonic swung it on the blacks, the sony was probably the next nearest but the blacks were a bit greyer.

Of coursevthis was before led. If I was buying a tv now, to be future proof I would buy a panasonic, LED, 3D tv.

S'funny. As much as I love my "gadgets" (TV's and surround sound being two of them) I don't have any interest whatsover in 3D TV.

Same as above get an LG 42 or 47 inch LED tv. 200hz for £470. Just bought one from Richersounds and its fantastic.

I'll 3rd the LG 42" with HD as a great way to watch golf and footie.

If I was buying now, I'd probably take a serious look at an LED and it's benefits, if any. My brother in law works for Sanyo Electronics co. in Japan, he's always warned me off Plasma screens as their life expectancy was too low. That may have improved now, but something else I'd check into before purchasing one.
