After a bust up with BT TV You View, I will be leaving them in 30 days which means I will be losinng all the non freeview channels like UK Gold, Yesterday, Dave etc.
Does anyone know how I can get these channels again without using Sky or BT you view or dodgy free services?
Thanks

On my Tv, 12 is Quest, there is no 19
Quest is on channel 12 Dave is on channel 19 on my TV, I get around 99 tv channels on free view , plus a few Radio and news stations [ probably 10 are +1 hour repeat channels though ] No UK gold, do you have a proper digital aerial and have you re tuned your TV recently.

I haven't tuned my tv for ages as I always used the BT You view box.
Just done a retune and got 19 back so thanks for that.
But I still would like to know how to get the encrypted channels

If your happy to pay then now tv will do it over the internet. No option to record though or pause etc.
Otherwise its get a dish and sky

I'll need to check what channels are there , but you sign up for Amazon prime and get a fire stick (if you haven't a smart TV)
thinks it's around £60 a year for prime and £40 for the stick.

I've just done a bit of checking and it seems BT are lying.
When my contract ends 1st October, they say my box and its functions won't work.
I've just read reports on their forum that the box does still work out of contract.
I'll find out 1st October

It will still pick up channels, although some will be blocked. Sky disable the pause and rewind etc when you use theirs as a Freesat box. Maybe BT do something similar ?

The freeview part of my box works (stuff from the aerial). It's the stuff via BT and the net that probably will not.

Well Bob. Just disconnected my broadband from BT box.

Still able to receive all Freeview SC and HD channels, still able to record and watch recorded Freeview. Can watch previously recorded Freeview but not recordings of BT or internet channels.

Catchup works as well but you will need a broadband connection with decent speed. An hour's catchup will use about 1Gb of data whereas with BT it's separate from your data allowance.

Can't give you an answer re getting Gold, etc though. Suppose UKTV may be the answer but doubt if that will work through Youview.

I've checked back through my recordings and I don't seem to watch as much of the encrypted channels as I thought I did.
£10 per month better off. I wonder what drink I can spend that on ;)
