TV Characters

This is a thread where each post finds me nodding in agreement. Fletcher and Regan are winning the day for me but I could probably add plenty of others as people post more names.

Likewise, although in both cases the supporting casts were brilliant and both also had other successful characters. John Thaw was brilliant as Jack Reagan but equally good as Morse who was the polar opposite of reagan.

Basil Fawlty, and Manuel.

Add those to my list and again, a brilliant supporting cast and superb scripts.

"if the good Lord……"
"….is mentioned once more I will move you closer to him!"

Absolutely!

I was running through the cast in my head and did wonder about adding in Mrs Fawlty, Polly, the Colonel and the Irish builder. "I like a woman with spirit Mrs Fawlty."..................................... but don't mention the war!

Polly's response to how many sketches she sells is another favourite; "Enough to keep me in waitressing".

The triumverate of Sir Humphrey, Bernard and Jim Hacker - all bouncing off each other and all with great lines. Loved it when the posh blonde girl was also added to the mix, she had Humphrey round her little finger, dear lady....

General Melchet as well -BBBBBBAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

David Brent - The Office

We've lived through some great characters.

Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker as The Doctor, Regan, Carter, Bodie, Doyle, Cowley, Callan, Lonely, Gene Hunt, Basil Fawlty, Andre Morrell, John Robinson and Reginald Tate as Professor Bernard Quatermass, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Blackadder, General Melchett, Jim Hacker, Sir Humphrey Appleby, Bernard Wooley and Avon come to mind.

Norm and Cliff in Cheers - what a double act!

Deep Space Nine had a character who never said anything in seven series but was always seen sitting at the end of Quark's bar. His name was Morn, an anagram of Norm. Rumour has it that George Wentz actually played him in one episode.
