Trump's Place

Paul Lawrie did well to skip the opening. Could not make it due to bad weather they said.
It does look like a beautiful course, it's just a shame that Trump is such a pillhok.
At least Scotland has got a great course out of the fuddle.
I would be no surprise to me to see the housing scheme and big pub staying in the filing cabinet.
The windfarm is Trumps get out of jail free card.

There is more to that!!!!

Lets just say that Paul or is it Peter and Monty don't see eye to eye if what I'm told is correct, also Paul or is it Peter only agreed to photographs and wasn't going to play!!!!!! Again make of that what you will!!!

THE Open!

Watch this space. Why did Trump go out of his way to ensure Martin Hawtree was the architect in charge of the project. Hawtree is also the R&A's preferred architect.

Why do you think George O'Grady and Sandy Jones were playing at the opening ceremony today????

O'Grady and Jones have hee haw to do with The Open,Tour yes,Open no.

Jones and O'Grady agreed that the course is 'great' and said that they will work to bring major professional events to it.The chief executive of the European Tour said: 'Great courses should have great tournaments and we, the European Tour, together with Mr Trump, will work to bring the right event to Trump International Links.'Jones added: 'I love this place, I came 18 months ago and said to myself 'God actually made a golf course here', I thought the architects could only mess it up but they have polished the landscape magnificently.'I know there have been objectors but to those who think the golf course shouldn't be here I would say 'golf is a responsible business, golf has an integrity and honesty at the core of the game and we are honest people and embrace our environment, and I wish the environmentalists would embrace golf because it would make a difference to all of us'.'

Montgomerie said the course was a 'marvel' and was honoured to be part of the opening party. He added: 'The course is playing great and the best part is how quick we have been able to get round. I love this guy (Trump) to play with, he doesn't hang around.'I will be able to go back to the rest of the professionals playing in the Scottish Open tomorrow and tell them how wonderful this course is.'On behalf of the European Tour I do hope this is the start of something very large here and I do hope we have many tournaments here in the future.'

These quotes speak volumes.

Naw but you were asked if you meant The Open or the Scottish Open and replied The Open while naming them pair.

Must have interpreted what you meant.

Silly me.

Jumping the gun is naughty!

Get yourself through to Western Gailes, Machrihanish, Machrihanish Dunes etc proper links laid out as the land dictated.

Controversial but I'd say Longniddry ticks more boxes than KB.

Both Machrihanish courses are special, I really enjoyed the Dunes course and the Trump course looks similar.

Longniddry is great too and I've always had a soft spot for Gullane. First ever birdie on no.3 and first ever eagle on no.2

I agree there will be a big tournament there and a major one in the euro tours eyes, possibly like the Johnny Walker. It does amaze me how people in the know seem to know so many 'facts', someone on the inside spilling beans and a greenkeeper as well knowing there will be an Open there.

You make it sound like Hawtree's in charge of the R&A! You've also failed to address the point I made about the R&A's possible reluctance of 'getting into bed' with an individual whose business practices leave much to be desired ... and that's putting it mildly!

Here's my prediction; if the course is as good as those who've seen it say it is and, if this continues to be the case then, The Open may well end up in Aberdeen - one day - but not until two things have happened. 1) Trump's pushing up yon marram grass he had planted and 2) the name of the course is changed.

As for George O'Grady and Sandy Jones, they have absolutely no connection to the R&A and, therefore, absolutely no influence on where The Open goes.

I make it sound like nothing, you can interpret it any way you like but the fact is Hawtree is the R&A's preferred course architect.

As per O'Grady, point me to where I say they make the decision????

Time will tell my boy, time will tell!!!!

I don't claim to know anyone who is spilling beans. What I do know is I have a good friend who is employed by the Scottish PGA, based at your golf club and I will repeat again what he told me in person from his own mouth.

In his opinion its the best golf course that he's ever walked and it will hold an Open. He is very confident of that.

Ahhh that's different to a Gauranteed Open!

you have to ask yourselves as to why DONALD TRUMP would build this golf course in the first place as an egotistical endeavour or was he given the nod that yes it would be put on the rotation for an open,i bet the scottish open will be played there within 5 years and the open there within 10,the whole place has been designed for this very reason by the architects, and its about time we had new courses used for the open as the list of courses big enough to cope with everything associated with a modern golf tournament is growing smaller.

Because you're the person who inferred this in the first place and, I quote ...

"THE Open!

Incidentally, the fact that Trump engaged Hawtree has no bearing on anything in particular. Hawtree is a links specialist and you really shouldn't jump to any conclusions that just because the R&A have used his services in the past doesn't automatically mean they will take their flagship event to a Trump course. Oh and, by the way, you still haven't addressed the points I made about Trump's suitability as an 'on-site' partner at any future Open.

Incidentally, you may be content to accept opinion as fact but not everyone is as gullible. I am referring of course to your scottish pga friend who knows as much about the R&A's intentions as you do which is ... zilch

... sonny!
