Trump Turnberry Vandalised

Whatever people's views on the owners politics, that course brings jobs and money to people in the area. They are the ones being hit by this, not the owner.

Never mind the people who have saved their money for what was potentially a trip of a lifetime.

Morons
Its a Stupid way to get people that have no dog in the fight to pick a side and not yours.

I have zero interest and knowledge of the 4000 yr war in the Middle East.

Other than all over a bit of land.

But I have never picked or supported one side over the other.

However if I was a local and was impacted by this protest, I’d probably be vocal against the protesters.

Ie. My job, my course, my town, my families job etc….

The staff working there didn’t vote for trump. They would have never met the guy I’d assume. But now their jobs are impacted.

Stupid protest.

It’s vandalism and it happens to clubs and courses all over the country quite frequently. For most it is no more than an inconvenience and costly nuisance - and it’s frustrating and disappointing when it happens. From a playing perspective it may well already be largely sorted or well on the mend at Turnberry.

But the people that did this, clearly did it in response to the political decisions that Trump is currently making. This is absolutely everything to do with politics.
Feel free to report it, I'll leave it to another mod to make the decision.

In my view, it's okay as long as people are discussing the vandalism, it's impact, whether it makes genuine difference. It's up to others if they view it differently.

I’m happy to stand by my opinion on this.
Which opinion?
If you think these vandals need to be imprisoned for a very long time, how do you propose doing this?
Are you going to build and staff the vast number of prisons required to incarcerate vandals for prolonged periods or are you going to release rapists, murderers, child molesters high level organised criminals etc to cope with the influx.

Who would like to pay for more prisons to be built and more prison officers?
How do you propose to raise the money for this?
Does anybody here fancy the job of prison officer with 24/7 working time availability requirement?

However I do think we should be jailing some of those at a Senior level in profit driven water companies who deliberately pollute our rivers as obviously fining them doesn’t seem to work.
That’s because you’re only fining the company.
The customers end up paying that!

Put the CEO in jail and it will soon stop.

Not to mention the ever present possibility of having a prisoner throw their excrement in your face.

It’s referred to as “potting”, and is a means used by prisoners of settling drugs debts inside. Absolutely disgusting.

I used to work closely with prisons after I had been promoted and started life as a DS, and regularly visited the four HMP establishments we had in my Force area. Anyone who says prisons are holiday camps has clearly never been inside one.

Truly awful places.

Okay, folks.

LT has already mentioned it and I’ll reinforce it. The assumption that this damage is a direct result of a certain individual’s recent conduct is just that - an assumption. Whilst it may well be correct, there could be other underlying reasons we are unaware of.

I share LT’s view. The damage to the course, reparation, criminal investigation and so on can be discussed. But there is a very, very thin line here. If the debate veers into politics expect it to be locked and binned.

Thanks.

I look at the protest and what is likely being protested about (both being 'wrongs') - and without thinking any deeper at any underlying cause, I instinctively know and recognize the massive difference between the two likely wrongs. Members and visitors may not be able to play the course or use the clubhouse for a short period of time - but they will be back playing the course and in the clubhouse sooner rather than later - its not the end of the world for them. Some of the outrage being expressed is OTT nonsense.

And again, another post that is everything to do with politics. The reason being of course, is that nearly everything in life can be linked back to it.

A point of beer is getting expensive? Politics.
Getting an appointment at the doctors is difficult? Politics.
The local bus service is unreliable? Politics.

I'm not picking on anyone in particular, and certainly not the post I have quoted as I agree with it wholeheartedly, but I just find the 'no politics' rule on this forum fairly nonsensical.

It's not an assumption though is it. The group that carried out the damage said it was in direct response to trumps comments on Gaza.
