...nothing like a good work out for the shoulders...
and funnily enough when you take off the bag to swing you actually feel a bit free-er in the shoulders because you have shed the weight.

So by the same extension then we should do a heavy shoulders & back weights set before teeing off and carry an anvil around too so we get the feeling of freedom when we put them all down?

Do you see pro golfers carrying a bag? No. Why not? Because it is an unneccesary burden and will impair performance.

Unless you really want to carry a bag, use a trolley until they/the condtions stop you. There is nothing but biomechanical drawbacks to lugging a bag about. I only do it in the depths of winter and only ever with a half-set.

Unless you can afford a caddy, use the wheels mate.

Although we don't have an out'n'out trolley ban often, the greenkeepers mark off an area that no trolleys are allowed in. This is generally a 20-30 yard radius of the green. So most of us start carrying at this point because if your ball is 5 yards off the green and you want to chip it, you've either got to take the chipping club and the putter - leaving one of them on the wet ground while you play, or you've got to walk 20 yards each way to play, change club and get back to the green again.

Easier to just carry your bag to the ball.

Cleaning up the trolley for the winter hibernation this weeekend.
