I took the plunge to enter the Trilby tour in December but joined up late and only made the waiting list. The good news is that places are now available at a few courses but none in my area - Sprowston Manor, Rockliffe Hall and Trevose. :(

Having read below on their site if I hold out there should be 2 more venues announced - but still not in the SE area.

" We do not allocate or hold spaces at venues for entrants; it is down to the individual to secure their entry which is treated on a first come first serve basis
(2 more regional venues and the International Final venue will be announced shortly, however there are to be no more planned venues in the South-East)."

Got to pick one or I will lose my £50 :(

Hopefully the other courses are not miles away else I'm fecked.

Typical Trilby Tour cock up.
When I entered last years comp, I got my name down months and months ahead of the event.
Was told that the dates and venues were going to be announced in November, then Decemeber. I think they were finally announced in April the following year. When you complained about it and warned them that the dates they finally came out with might clash with holiday commitments, you were basically told "tough" and reminded that you would lose your deposit if you couldn't make it.
I felt like jacking it in on the run up to the event, but like you, didn't want to lose my £50.00.

I had the same situation as Smiffy last year, by the time the dates were released I was either on a family holiday or unable to get the time off for any of the local dates.

I had started emailing TT chasing the dates from November the previous year and had kept their replies. I used this to ask for my deposit to be refunded and they did so immediately which was a real surprise.

I'm in @ The Oxfordshire for this year but I think he is really milking it's popularity by this staggered venue release. It was a case of gambling, do you think the last release will be a dream like Sunningdale or something. Or will you hold off and find it gets stuck at a goat track.

Must say that it needs to be a pretty special day for me to enter again in subsequent years. Here's hoping though.

I suspect that the 2 "yet to be released" dates and venues will only come about if there is an overwhelming demand for spaces. I was set to play in the Scottish event, however, that has failed to happen yet. Had to go with Rockliffe Hall to ensure i got a decent place. Don't know what would happen if the TT suddenly says the Scottish event is going to be at Loch Lomond etc...i'd be well p***ed off!

Fancied playing in it lsat year but Scotlands was at Murrayshall and wasn't paying £250 to play there not a lover of the course and as Bunkers said not one in Scotland yet.

It seems a bit childish to me to say 2 more venues will be released later without saying any more. People pay a lot of money for this event and they're basically being asked to gamble on taking what's on offer now vs what might be on offer later.

It's either a ridiculous attempt at WH trying to pile more pressure on, or they haven't got the other 2 venues sorted yet.
Neither would surprise me.

FWIW, I played in it last year and loved it. I'd happily play in it again if I could comfortably miss the entry fee.

If it does come to Scotland this year there could well be a change in venue. No one's really saying much although they still have the promo bags in the window from last year.

I'd be well gutted if I had entered this year and been told my options were Old Thorns, Old Thorns or Old Thorns.
£250.00 to tee up there????

The 2 additional venues will not be in the South East so Old Thorns is not going to be included.

That said, as I am on the TT waiting list I have received offers to play in comps at the Old Thorns and Oxfordshire for £40 AND £55 respectively. The prizes are free entry into the TT :D

Caught some of this on Sky earlier in the week.

If you get in make sure you post so we can look out for you in your dodgy hat.

Actually good to watch some players on TV who are regular club players. While they are all better than me their ability is closer to mine than a pro so some of the shots they do are makable for me also and they make more course management calls similar to what I need to do - I reckon I learn more from watching this format than the PGA / European Tour.
