It’s worth knowing if you are a cyclist and a car driver goes into the predictable rant about how he pays road tax and you don’t so he has more rights on the road than you 🤔Omg silly me😳

The exact same VED that every other vehicle with similar emissions pays.So what is the equivalent to VED that cyclists pay?
At a guess it's probably at the same level as the attention to the Highway Code that so many of them pay i.e. zero.

Here to help ðŸ‘😉
Less emissions, less damage to roads, less space used on the road, far more likely to be injured whilst on the roads. Hmmm, seems like they take the ultimate responsibility for other people's actions.Absolutely!
I wouldn't want the cyclists to think that they had any responsibilities for their actions so a free ride is a good idea.

What, all of them? And when they are proved to be responsible for causing an accident they use exactly the same excuse.
Surely if they are proved to be responsible for causing an accident then they are charged and punished the same as a driver . They are entitled to be on the road and let’s be honest they cause less issues than people behind a wheel of a motor vehicleAnd when they are proved to be responsible for causing an accident they use exactly the same excuse.

Oh, FWIW, I came away from road cycling due to the ever increasing number of assholes who thought that it was their God given right to use the roads. The abuse received daily was eye opening in the least. Seems that the additional 20 seconds it took to pass me was just too much for their oh so important lives.
And I'm equally sorry to hear of your shoulder injury. The one caused by carrying that giant chip.Sorry to hear of your neck injury.
You know the one that prevents cyclists from looking over their shoulders to check on other traffic.
I take great care to not crowd cyclists by getting too close and allow plenty of space if overtaking one. I appreciate their vulnerability.
However, some not all, are a danger to not only themselves but also other road users and pedestrians.

Of course, we could keep the personal stuff out of it if we tried. But where's the fun eh?
And a significant number of drivers are asshats too. The moral being that some people are asshats and that we probably shouldn't judge entire groups based on that minority. It's not a personal comment merely one based on the experience of too many cyclists not paying any regard to other road users and thus endangering their lives.
When driving I will always pay great heed to their safety, its just a pity that a significant minority of cyclists don't seem to think that they have any responsibility themselves.

I hope I'm misunderstanding this, but what you appear to be saying is that because a car driver is a two hat, then a cyclist should be more careful. That's the same logic that states that women should dress more conservatively so that they don't get raped!!! How about we educate the car driver. Or ban them. And because there are a number of drivers who are inconsiderate and dangerous only emphasises the point that cyclists, due to their vulnerability, need to take more care and responsibility for their own safety .
At the same time the idiot drivers need to either realise the danger they can represent and change their ways or be taken off the road.
For many years I was a two-wheeled road user albeit of the motorised variety so I understand how exposed one can be.

A gamekeeper killed a 12 year old boy in some woods near where I used to live with the wire trick. Really not a joke. I raced bikes in my younger years and the same sickening trick happened at Preston Docks and resulted in some horrendous injuries. If you don't like bikes don't buy a house near a notorious bikers spot. Simple.I wonder how many people scanned over the rope/wire/nails comments without giving them a second thought as being serious..... As a mountain biker my whole life I can tell you that all 3 have been used at trails I've ridden at with very very serious consequences to riders and dogs!
Anyone that would even contemplate doing such a thing is a complete moron in my book and I hope karma comes back around to you. Someone's life could be altered forever by actions like this.
In terms of the trail bikes.... The noise nuisance behind homes must be awful combined with physical damage to the area, but I empathize as trying to find somewhere to ride where someone isn't upset is very very difficult these days. More and more woodland is banning bikes of all sorts to create yet another dog walking area and unless there is a bike specific park built this kind of thing will always happen as inherently people annoy eachother.
What, all of them?
Or would it be accurate to say that "Some road users are dangerous"? Or is it just cyclists that tickle your anger root?
Treat every other road user as a complete idiot until they prove otherwise was an adage for safety that was taught to me over 50 years ago and I continue to stick to it.
