Total Qualifiers at your club

Us midweekers get 1 medal and 1 stableford each month.
Medals are April to November only otherwise it's all year.
There are a couple that we can play in at weekends - the club champs and a couple of others at no cost other than entry fee but I don't get to play much weekend golf these days
So probably about 20-25 available comps - played 8 so far, may play 2 or 3 more this year...
To be honest, if they put on a comp every week I wouldn't be able to play that many more and there would probably be a smaller turnout.
There are enough for me.

Probably about 2 "formal" comps a month at weekends and probably another 1 midweek. But then there is always a "pro-shop" comp every week when there is no formal club comp. These are qualifiers too.

Reckon around 5 a month March through to April ?

But we are reducing it a little to allow more time for social golf at the weekend and less medals and more stablefords

Just counted them, 41 including every open(2rds in the 5day) and 2rds in the club champs. First was 8 April last is this Sunday, 27wks of the year have qualifying rounds so roughly 3 every 2wks. IF, you want to pay an extra £100 in open entry fees over and above the annual subs, otherwise it's 33 rounds including all the midweek medals and stablefords which involve taking a half day off work. Yet again I reach the point in the year when I debate the value of a membership, equates to roughly 17.50 per round worth playing, bizzarely playing all the opens improves the value. And like Patrick on page 1 we have a large gap in August which could be filled with qualifiers if they'd core the greens in October instead.

This year we had a possible 60 qualifying handicap comps , starting March 28th ending October 4th.
That includes 20 Tuesday medals and Friday comps that count for the Saturday comp. Plus 2 open comps , so total playable h/c events = 62

I can see why they do yours, the first year they did it i didn't get it but played in that Texas 3 weeks later and they were good again. only thing i found with yours is they were fantastic though the winter, what's the point in that esp as we could be under 2 foot of snow for 3 months.

Ours were done in mid Aug, but that new Graden machine is amazing , it made no real difference to the pace or roll TBH.

we don't have a real appetite for more comps as even with close to 1300 members we are Lucky if you get 50 in a normal Monthly medal.

This is the bulk of my problem with the schedule, I'd far rather have more qualifiers and have temps for the full off-season(we're on mats so it's not exactly golf anyway) while the greens take as long as they need to be ready for April.

Our greens were cored on 8th October after all qualifiers were completed, winter tees and greens cut and ready winter greens are only used when weather dictates

. But mats must be used or drop into rough, which doesn't really concern me

We have a monthly stableford and medal from March-October and then a monthly stableford every month over the winter. We have a midweek medal and stableford once a month which follow the same pattern, switching to stableford only. From March to October there are also additional comps every couple of weeks including honour board events. so I reckon for the weekend golfer in the main season there would be at least three per month if not more. Add in the two midweek ones and plenty of chance to win something or get cut

It also means that there are chances for non-competitive golf at weekends too so those less bothered about handicaps etc can still play regularly early in the morning at weekends (rather than having the tee booked). All in all not a bad deal

Mine is a public course but the comps are run very well and the handicap sec is great

We have a medal and stableford every month the whole year round, the course never closes. We dont have midweek roll ups but there are other qualifiers interspersed like the club champs, champion of champions, etc I guess we average about 30 a year all in all.

5 a week. One of them a 9-holer.

Sat, Sun, Weds, Fri. Thursday is a 9 hole event. Not open for cat 1 though, I don't think. Might have got that wrong though. Women have tuesday comp.
If it's a Bank Holiday Monday is comp day too!

We have competitions every other Saturday all year round. April to September they are alternative Medal then Stapleford. From October through to March every other weekend they hold a Winter League using Stapleford. All of which are qualifying events.
