A guy at our place is also a member at Silloth. They took around 600k in 2024 in Green fees
hence the reason they keep the price relatively low. A few years years a coach load of Americans came and because the Green fees were under £50 they left! Lesson learned; think it was the reason for the rapid increase at North Berwick.

No, they were just a coach load of American golfers driving around the North of England, looking for somewhere to play. They stumbled across Silloth but saw the lower prices and left... It was definitely a real thing, that definitely, definitely really happened

Turning down the scepticism on this…I guess they could have been travelling between club X and club Y and had given themselves a day’s break in between…but decided at short notice to find somewhere to play.

Besides…if someone insists that something happened, especially when it will seem a little odd to others, I tend to accept what I’m being told unless I have very good reason to doubt.

I heard the other day that a number of the N Leeds clubs are in conversation about the level of their green fees etc. One or two have been noticeably cheaper for a number of years. They need to be careful though.

Only had 2 very good deals over the years, and neither were in this country.

First was West Cliffs in Lisbon for around 50 quid, second was Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi for 50 about the same.
