Doom scrolling through YouTube brings out some good contenders for this. Also radio 1 & 2 with their live sessions have yielded some excellent efforts
I prefer covers that are not a straight copy. There's 2 ways to do a cover...
1. A straight "copy"
2. A complete reworking keeping elements of the original.
P.us they have to be Live...you can do anything with a studio and a million tracks and overdubs
Personal choice here but both have been done by my current faves The Warning - 3 sisters from Mexico aged 20, 22 and 24 when these were recorded 18 months to 2 years ago..
1. The straight copy

2. The Rework..
Bruce doing a "cover" of his own song?On the back of this thread, I've been listening to a playlist called "100 Best Covers of all Time" on Spotify. My gawd, there are some awful versions on it ... (Because the Night - Bruce Springsteen, and Perfect Day - Duran Duran stand out in this respect).
But a few gems also ( Pround Mary - Tina Turner, and Can't Get No Satisfaction - Devo) to name but two.
Kind of...Bruce doing a "cover" of his own song?
Ok.Bruce doing a "cover" of his own song?
It was one of a few songs that Springsteen gave to others when they did not make it from his 1977/78 recordings for "Darkness on the Edge of Town" album.Ok.
However, given it was written by Springsteen and Patti Smith , then Springsteen didnt have a clue, and Patti Smith knocked the spots off it ...
I love Duran Duran but they have some awful covers - Perfect Day isn't great but their version of White Lines, just plain badOn the back of this thread, I've been listening to a playlist called "100 Best Covers of all Time" on Spotify.
