I've always had a slight hook since I started 2 years ago, maybe 1 in 5.

At the range the other day I noticed just before I start my backswing I close the face of the club slightly.

Is there any wee routines to get into to cure this.

Think about taking all club back.

Did you ever use a forward press (move the grip slightly forward) to start your back swing, it might have developed from this or you could use this.
If that makes sense.

Hiya, welcome to the forum.
I'd say you should ask your local pro to check your grip before diving in to swing changes. All you are looking to do is straighten out the hook which could be as simple as turning your hips through the shot before the hands roll over.

Do you do this closing of the clubface even on your good shots?

Have your pro check your clubs as well as your lie angle if too upright could also be the cause. I hope you get it sorted.
