Well I didnt play too bady, started off well, hit the 1st green and a solid par, just missed par on 2nd, I was feeling confident, I often start badly. " good shots to par 5 3rd, hit a 5 iron pin high sadly off line and right behind a tree so could only play sideways, ended up with a 7. I kept it goin upto the 8th where I inexplicably took four from 30 yds short of the green for a db 7, the ninth is a short but I put my tee shot into the stream the runs round half of the green and ended up with a 6, I normally dont take mor than 9 on 8 & 9 so 13 was awful.
Out in 49. all is not lost but o nthe back 9 I had two 8s, due to not following through on chips and a shot into a ditch. Meant I came back in 51 for a net 77, same as my partner who won 3rd prize on a card play off.

Its was an annoying round as I played very few bad shots, just a couple of ill judged ones and had a bit of bad luck too.

The winner had 72 with 76 getting 2nd, the course was really wet and a strong wind blowing too.

So I missed a good chance to win a major but the same score as 3rd wasn't too bad I guess.

Know the feeling but had the opposite today. Played the 1st the worst I've ever played it. 90 degree dogleg right and I was absolutely shocking.
Expecting a rubbish round after that but ended up playing the best round I've had for months. Shame that I had to cut the round short due to several groups in front playing the slowest I've seen for a while. Two hours for 9 holes is really pushing it.
In the words of James Greaves - "it's a funny old game".

Louise, Console yourself in knowing that you came joint third, You know where you lost the shots that would have made a difference, so hopefully wont make the same mistake again, all a learning curve im afraid, all the very best, Rob...
