Tony Jacklin

Just another sad old fart who won't age gracefully.
Jacklin did golf no favours with this farce.

Interesting that he was the same age as judge Len......a world apart in fitness and personality.

Oh - have to really disagree with you on this and can't beliece that you really believe what you've said. There is absolutely no reason at all why an older guy can't take up dancing, enjoy himself and maybe get quite good - relative to where he started. His dancing was only 'not very good' when compared with younger ones who have had dance tuition in the past and others who maybe have more natural aptitude - but we can all learn from a poor base. And it's surely got nothing to do with golf. If Derborah Meaden had been kicked out would it have done business no favours. The fact that you imply that viewers may have had their stereotype views of golf and golfers confirmed, says more about us that it does about a a guy such as Jacklin who played top level golf 40-50yrs ago.

And so really unfair IMO to use the words embarrassing, farce and 'old fart' about Jacklin.

Deborah
a] can dance a bit
b] looks like she is really enjoying herself
c] has a lovely smile [unlike Jacklin's scary fixed grimace]

So ...SLH..... no.
Unusual for us to disagree!

I plucked DM as an example only in respect of your 'does golf no favours' comment about TJ. Me and Mrs SILH think DM is tops for all the reasons you give - go girl!! Just thought you were a bit harsh on TJ even though I do find him rather pompous and smug :)

It's a bit tough when you cannot put the hours in that the others can, due to age and fitness. Generally this is why the sports stars do well. I am enjoying the large actor, his facial expressions and total commitment to the dance are fantastic. The phrase "slug in salt" was pretty unpleasant, he could have just said what she was doing wrong. The corrie girl looks like a ringer. The designer, is just annoying ... The hairy biker is hopelessly enthusiastic, perhaps he will improve and do the "journey" .
I suspect that there were some strategies being applied in the first show, get the tricky dances out the way, the jive is a killer but to get that one out the way and leave some ball room toward the end is a good idea as the Latin unsticks the best at times.

Quoted like a "Strictly" hardened expert that's analysed it in every detail!!! Mate you know your moves, that I cannot deny but perhaps its time to step away from the sequins! ;)

Fair doos to the bloke, My kids had never heard of him, so I was able to tell them about one of the best golfers of his generation.

So at the very least he has raised some awareness out there, had some fun, and stirred some memories....what can be wrong with that?

Julien McDonald only survived courtesy of the "gay mafia" aka Craig and Bruno. Either could have gone but Jacklin was always going to lose the vote off. The hairy biker will last a few weeks (maybe this week) on "enthusiasm". The Corrie actress has clearly danced before as has Sophie Ellis Bextor. Pretty sure Abi Clancy has had some pretty serious tuition since knowing she was on the show too.

It has to be hard to find suitable celebs but surely that should be a warning that perhaps the format has reached its sell by date. Similarly with Dancing on Ice. I think the Jungle is a different genre and celebs don't have to be so physically fit and it is more about their journey and the enjoyment of eating bugs
