Tonights Interview - The results are in!

One of my questions to the captain was how many societies use the course. I said it would be off-putting for me if there were socieites running rough-shod on the course and compromising vailability of tee times to members.

It was a nice interview actually, he just asked me about my golfing history, why I want to join and if Madandra's statement about me having a foked tounge was true.

Seriously though, cannot wait to get up there this morning to get my bits & pieces and get on the course tomorrow.

Picked up my goodies today and cannot wait to get onto the course tomorrow.

Thanks for all the nice comments folks, you really are a great bunch and things like this make the forum a place to be proud of belonging to.

Thanks to all the members of our virtual clubhouse.

Nice one Jon.

How long does it take to get to Gillingham from West Malling...... Look forward to my invite ;)

Just about to put my application in to join Red Libbets at Fawkham, played it last weekend really nice course, and closer to home.... more importantly I pass by it on my drive back from the train station, so will be getting a few summer evening holes in...... roll on the lighter nights.

Well done mate!

Jon
You said your playing thursday are you taking part in the Ladies Stableford competition?? :D :D

Jon,

i was paying around about that when i left my old club in oxford and its club house was a joke at the side of yours so seems v-good value to me.

I don't expect anyone will admit to being black balled but I am sure there will be guys on here who have heard of committee's blocking an application.

I have had an application blocked. Tried to join a club in Fife as a junior when I was 17. The mens waiting list was over 4 years. I was just trying to get in quickly without having to pay a joining fee. I was promptly told to join the mens waiting list. :o

Congrats to you MWJ

I'm on the Committee at our club and this thread has prompted me to think about the way we accept new members.

At the moment all a guy has to do is fill in the form, pay the levy and thats basically it. The Committee are really only interested to ensure he is given a fair handicap. We only really see new members if we are drawn with them in competition.

We are different though in that we are a section attached to a business (hotel). We aren't 'the club' as such but, as competition organisers maybe should adopt a more thorough process before accepting new members to the Gents Section.

Congrats on the membership Jon, I was so glad when I made the decision to join somewhere, I'm sure you will enjoy the benefits.

didnt see this thread before ya first round but congrats mate, i can imagine how chuffed you must feel. I was been checking out a club last few weeks, played a few rounds there, been in club house, used the facilities and already felt chuffed. Aint even applied yet either so you must be well pleased. Well done again mate. Keep us posted on your experiences!
