I was at the point of killing someone for a fag last night. My 2 year old got the better of me with his whinging and tantrums. I was desperate.

Had a large G & T instead.

The wife has said on a couple of occasions to just go and have a fag. (I've probably not been the easiest person to live with this week!) But I've refused each time.

I'm wondering if one of those inhaler type things would help in such circumstances. Or, now that I've gone cold turkey for a week, would it be a regression?

You've done the hardest part mate. If you've gone a week cold turkey, I wouldn't use anything now. One thing that helped me through it, is to reverse my mood...I put a smile on my face and tried to be as happy as possible (even though I wanted to kill) The only problem with that was, the misses didn't realise what I was going through and how difficult it was. But it did help.

Keep going HH it does get easier.

HH. your a star. brilliant job to get through your first week as a non smoker. :)
If you have a sudden urge, chew a golf tee, worked for me. After a few minutes you'll think 'why am I chewing a golf tee'
But at those times when you could kill, try this...
Think of a really special time in your life. A really happy moment. First kiss, first chip in, your wedding, birth of your child whatever. Imagine it in full detail, colour, sounds, people around you and so on...
when you have those kill moments, close your eyes and think of that happy time. you will feel much better :)
Have you bought yourself anything small as a reward for lasting a week?
keep it up though, you've done the hardest bit :D

I gave up smoking on the 23rd of March this year because i had a lung infection so i took the oppotunity to give up.

Since then i have been on the nicotine chewing gum on the advice of my G.P. I am now having one morning and one at night and i must say they do reduce the craving.

What i am saying is if you can go cold turkey fine but you dont have to do this alone there is plenty of advice and support out there if you need it.

Its almost eight weeks now for me and most of the time i dont get any cravings, its the best thing i have ever done

You will feel so much better, your bank balance will be better and your whole family will benefit.
