To play or not to play?

Today was not normal!

We had winds of at least 50 mph, mainly across the course. I lost count of the amount of times my trolley and bag blew over. I took to parking it in the green side bunkers.

Putts were blown off course as they slowed down. I am usually pretty good in the wind as I can hit it low. I scored 18 pts, we did miss out 2 holes.

The person who scored their best ever score yesterday did not play in winds like I did today. Congrats though!

Wind yea
Rain yeah
Cold yes

Wind+rain no
Wind + cold no
Rain + cold no
Wind+rain+cold... Are you kidding?

Was down at Rye this weekend with the Mrs - lovely ancient town - stayed in an Inn built in 1420 :) Anyway...

Out for a walk yesterday afternoon down by the shore at Rye and Camber - and boy was it windy and wild; glancing across I saw a golf course - and I thought well that looks a bit of a tasty links course - I do fancy playing it - and love playing in a wind. So did a wee bit of research when I got in - and yes - Rye Golf Club. And £125 a round.

Q: To play or not to play? - A: Not to play :( I just can never justify paying that sort of money for a round of golf. Which is a pity as it did look good - but it is now (unfortunately) off my 'to play' list.

Its not easy to get a round there, you cant just ring and book a green fee afaik. Very hoity toity and I seem to remember that the Pro isn't allowed to go into the clubhouse uninvited! I once played on their artisan course in a club match but haven't yet got on the main course

Ah - that might explain what I read on their website Visitors page which declares as a green fee

Per round playing one's own ball £125pp

Not for me. Pity - perhaps.
