Anyone tried both?

I won some Penta TP (the old ones) recently and really like them, more so than the Bridgestone B330S I have been using for a good while.

Just wondering if there is much difference between these and the newer Penta TP5?

Looking to get some in but not many places (I can find quickly at work) seem to have the older ones....

Thanks

Older ones are end-of-line so whatever stock is floating around is all that's to be had, hence the sparsity of them.
As far as difference, for me the old ball was much better. Softer and gave more distance off the tee. The new TP5 feels too heavy for my liking and doesn't spin as much as the old model on greens.

The tp5 doesnt seem to spin just as much I noticed myself, am I mistaken though as I thought the tp3 were supposed to be harder and less spinny?

Thanks for the replies, I feared as much!!

Will try to hoover up any of the old model I come across. Shame they've changed it really as probably the ball I've liked the most out of all them!

Another original penta tp lover, that really does not like the new tp5. I am yet to try the tp3, but I reckon they will be better. The tp5 for me does not feel like a premium ball off woods and very limited spin in my experience.. The old tp I could stop a 5 iron within 3ft of pitching!

The old tp really is a good ball. Long off the tee and very easy stop on the greens, getting more spin than I ever have done the last few rounds. Going to order a couple of dozen from dg

I agree they are a better ball (last years model) I do find that my Vokey wedges make mincemeat of them though! The TP3 is a lower spin ball and I can definitely notice the difference with short shots into the green.....more drop and stop as opposed to a number of feet of 'chew' from the old TP and new TP5.

Direct Golf have 2 doz of 2011 TP for £55. Add to that the £10 card from last months GM and 2 dozen balls for £45 with free delivery......fantastic value!

I bought some TP3's yesterday and they felt as soft as the TP 5 to me. Felt good off the putter and stopped well on the green and chipped nicely. I wasn't a big fan of the orginal five piece Penta so have been loathed to try the new TP5 but the TP3 are very similar in my opinion to the old TP black and red

Simon Khan is still using the the old penta as he threw me one at the Wales open. That could mean that even in the pro ranks they prefer the old one to the new Tp5

Fancy swapping a sleeve of tp3's for tp5's I have? I really can't get on with them, but then again, I think it may be user error! Lol
