Titleist Ball-Fitting Comp from April Mag

No problem, I would be asking the same things if I saw someone had posted a similar explantion to mine & I hadn't had the lesson. It'squite a change from the old way I was taught.

Simon

is it the linear method or is it (yet another) variety?

Glad you guys had a great time, sounds like another great GM forum offer!

In all honesty I don't know what the linear method is, I'll have to look that up & see if it is or not. I will report back later after I've had a chance to look into it.

Crow has basically written most of what i was going to write, but i have to say a big thanks to Golf monthly, titleist and the belfry it really was a brilliant two days.

Really enjoyed testing the balls and had a few brilliant tips of jonathon which with a bit of practice i think will really help me. Will probably be going with the prov1x as after testing playing the brabazon i feel alot more confident with it than my old srixon ad333, i even tested it on a few holes and the prov1x visibly had more check/spin than the srixon.

Cant wait to try everything ive learnt out on my own course and hopefully improve!

The method we were shown was simialr to the linear mthod (and also to Stan Uttley's technique if you're fmailiar with that) but as Simon said, you stand a little closer to the ball and use very little wrist hinge for the chip and use body turn to delvier the club. For the higher pitch type shot you set up with the ball a little more forward and hands behind the ball and make a good release with the right hand.

What he said about wieght on the left side was that many golfers push their hips left and hang back on the right side with their upper body, he wanted us to keep the lower body central but get the upper body weight more forward.

This was how I understood it but as usual in a group everyone will take something a little different.

I try and follow Stan Uttley's book and so it was similar to what I'd been doing (although the video showed how far reality was away from what I thought I was doing!) but using less wrist break made it a more repeatable action, I'm just glad he wasn't about to witness my antics around the 18th green!
