Time limit to attest GP card?

Can't find any info on this, so maybe someone here knows.

If a player enters a GP card on EG app and submits it to their partner to attest, is there a time limit on when the attester should complete it by? What would happen if hypothetically the attester never does it?

Happened to me. Put an atteter in and he said he had the MYEG app. Turns out he didn't so never received the online prompts to approve the score and I got a P aganst one of my score. Complained to the club handicap secretary but they couldn't (or wouldn't) help. I thnk I played the Sunday and it appeared the following Thursday. I now make sure everyone I play with has the MyEG app and knows how to attest or enter via PSI

Thank you but doesn’t answer 1 contradict 2? If there is no limit why should be a penalty? If there is a penalty when is it applied?

I would argue 1 is erroneous from personal experience
My mistake, a bit too quick to reply.
Looking at the report at my club, it would seem that it’s 4 days.
We have one this month, played on 13/4, penalty applied on 17/4.

Goes against the EG guidance for the “score must be attested by the marker who witnessed the round as soon as possible after play” but they allow 4 days?
Just another difference between competition score submissions and general play submissions in my opinion.

The marker SHOULD attest the score immediately, and by midnight on the day of the round at the latest.

A score never attested gets added to the player's handicap record as a Penalty Score after a few days, and a couple of reminder emails from England Golf.

NB: this is supposed to be changing soon, with the new process being that the Penalty Score is added the day following the round if a score is not submitted and attested.

As I said my "attester" didn't have my EG as I was told so never got any of the reminders and despite me messaging him asking him to download the app he didn't and I got the penalty added to my records. The club didn't do anything and apparently it was my responsibility. I asked if I could change attester to someone with the app and they said they couldn't edit anything from their end

Yes I agree
in a comp your DQ if the card is not signed.
So why is a GP card any different.

It's not. Both should be certified immediately and both still count for your handicap if that doesn't happen (unless the marker has a valid reason for not certifying).

Penalty score gets added if the card isn’t attested within 4 days - there should be no reason why it’s not done there and then as you sort out the scores after the 18th

The only thing they could edit from their end would be to untick the penalty score box against the round.

If you attest via myEG you get a message if you are signing the card to say you need to approve it. It then sends out a reminder every 24 hours and you as the person awaiting a card to be approved get emails from the system asking you to remind the attester to sign it off

It's similar for gp scores pre-registered via ISVs (unless the club have chosen to manage them within their ISV, for those ISVs with that option), just the wording of the email is slightly different.

No signiture is an immediate DQ in a comp.
But you get four days according to reports here for a GP card.
So what your saying isn’t happening .
