Tiger injured in car crash..

But would there be when the car would have had ABS?
Yes because ABS works on the basis of repeatedly applying and releasing the brakes alternately.

If the braking is hard enough it will leave "stuttering" skid marks.

Well it did when I had a recent experience!

It was mentioned on This Morning today that there was a black box in the car so that might show more information.

Never heard of a black box in a car before though.

Some traction and stability controls can apply braking and/or torque to individual wheels if it thinks the car will skid or roll. It would likelly prevent skid marks if the car did not change direction violently.

Woods may have been caught out by the inboard gizmos.

Is it not just a case of SUVs being inherently unstable?
It depends what speed you are going at and the road you are on. I had an xc60 for 3 years, a Yeti for 2 years earlier, and never once did either feel unstable. I'm sure if you push them hard enough on the wrong road they might but you would have to really push them in a way that would mean questions should be asked. Woods will have driven this type of car for years, SUV'S are default for wealthy Americans, so I'm not sure that one stands up.

Every time I have driven an SUV I have thought they were ridiculously unstable. Same for when I follow one through the lanes, they either wobble about, or are driven so slowly they are a road block.

Tiger Was driving his S class last time he crashed.

He couldn't drive an S Class, couldn't drive an SUV..........

I have a feeling you have sports cars / muscle cars. Is that right? If that is the case then they will feel top heavy to you. For people who don't push cars hard then most don't feel much different to a large hatchback or saloon. I have a Skoda Superb and I suspect you might think the same about that.

Now I appreciate that cars in the US tend to be set up a little softer than here so perhaps this car was a bit wobbly in comparison. Tiger has spent all of his adult life driving softly sprung US cars though so he really should not be caught out by this. If it was Rory or Matt Fitzpatrick then I would give a little more slack but an American struggling with a typical US set up car is not really an excuse.

...wouldn't say it's his fault just because he doesn't employ a driver.

Just think how much different his life would be now if he'd employed a driver since, say, 2015.

Even if he had paid the driver $100,000/year plus expenses, say, another $100,000 /year, for a six year total of $1,200,000 with no crashes and no bad crash publicity or broken bones, he;d be much better off.
