Never. I get caught DUI it's my job gone. But also partners brother got mowed down on the pavement by a drink driver. So if I'm driving it's soft drinks only. Not even a half

When comparing Tiger to Joe Bloggs, I think many assume they'll let him "get away with it" (if guilty of anything) because of who he is, and/or he has the money to make it go away. Whereas the book is thrown at Joe Bloggs.
I'm not so sure. If Joe Bloggs did it, it wouldn't be a major headline globally. You wouldn't have the local police immediately coming out and telling the press all about it. I know of about 4 guys at my golf club who have been done for drunk driving in last 3 years, most of them crashed their car. OK, lost their licence for a year. But apart from that, the punishment hasn't really hurt them too much.
It seems Tiger wasn't drinking, so possibly his pain meds, if anything? He'll suffer the consequences as it damages his brand. And it will probably hurt him more than it would hurt most Joe Blogg's who get done for drink driving, unless they drive for a living. A fine would be meaningless to Tiger, so that would just be a token punishment.
I was surprised how the police did cone out and quickly speak to media. Is that common over there, even before any real investigation?

I would agree that the punishment of just losing your licence for a year wouldn't hurt too much if you could have a car and driver on permanent call. However this sort of cost is beyond the reach of most.
I never drink and drive for all the obvious common sense reasons but if I lost my licence it would have a distinct effect on my life (one small example, I would probably have to give up playing golf for a year) and those around me. With 24 hour access to a chauffeur, no difference whatsoever.

I lost my licence for 6months about 10years ago through accumulation of points for speeding on my bike. It had zero impact on my job and minimal impact on family at that time so in both regards I was lucky. Did I learn my lesson, yes in some ways I did as I sold my bike and haven’t had one since to be stupid and speeding to that degree on.
The irony though is soon as you tell someone you lost your licence they immediately think you’re a drink driver and look down on you, I’ve never driven under the influence, I don’t ever drink when I go out if I’m driving not even one. After a round of golf I will have only a soft drink or coffee never any form of alcohol, same if we go for dinner etc. Yet I know so many people that have more than one drink after a round or when out for dinner, get in their cars and drive home and people still think that’s ok. I’ve always been of the opinion even 1 is too many when you’re driving a car.
Tiger clearly has an issue with what’s likely pain meds and there may even be an addiction in there, wouldn’t be a massive surprise considering how may surgeries he’s had and how many years he’s been on pain meds, so wouldn’t be a shock to know it’s impacting his decision making. Does that make it excusable? Absolutely not, He should be banned from driving and needs to be give help with managing his pain/possible addiction , if that means to be pain free and never driving again so be it. But this can’t carry on as it’s only a matter of time before someone is hurt.

I think when you look back to the 2021 crash, he really should have been prosecuted then - foot hard on the gas all the way through the accident - the man was off his tits on something then, and I suspect the same applies yesterday.
That said, while I think he should be dealt with correctly through the legal process, I also think he should seek help - Tiger seems to be addicted to being in the limelight, he wants to control many things, and he must have taken more meds in the last ten years than most people will go through in a lifetime - that's a dangerous combination and it often shows in his face - indeed i almost posted a picture of him arriving at TGL earlier this week - his arms looked like those of somebody taking steroids - not saying he is, but that's what it looked like.
He's ramped up his involvement in controlling the PGAT, he's under pressure to play on TGL to boost the TV ratings, and every man and his dog seems obsessed about when he'll next play a tournament. He needs to step back away from everything, figure out a healthy life plan, and stick to it - if that means an odd event on the senior tour with a buggy, so be it. If he carries on as he has been doing, he won't be around in 15 years time.
